Rend Lake/clinton lake
Never fished it. Is the lake froze over and are there ramps that are usable? Thinking about fishing over the holidays and I want a back-up plan incase the ville stays hard. I have never been on the lake and don't know which ramps are usable if at all. Thanks!
Has anyone been on Clinton lake? Just wondering what the conditions are.
Thanks all!

I'm sure clinton lake has open water. The ramp at mascoutin should be useable. Power plant has been down. Call ol Joe's bait shop. He might be of some assistance.

I don't trust ice!!! Fell through it once while duck hunting on the river up near Bethany. It was a year when the water was really high and froze this time of year. I believe it was 2003. I was walking through some willows and I thought the water was maybe 3 feet deep but when I fell in and topped my waders I was hurting. It was single digits and the water froze almost instantly. Was not a fun day. We were hunting a flat with full body decoys on the bank. Since then I don't walk on it!! When I see those guys driving their trucks on it I almost can't watch.

I crossed Rend Sunday and what I saw from the interstate it looked mostly frozen. South of 154 the main lake may be open but all the necks were ice.

Guys shelbyville isn't froze over as much as y'all think. Just sayin ;)

Buddy told me he busted through a lot of ice after the eagle ramp. Heck with it. I may try it. However, 20s next week. Anybody wanna meet at the ramp!?!

I'll stick to my cozy basement tying some jigs. I need 40 deg before I even think about it.

Rend is not totally froze. Everything south of 154 is open and north is mostly open now. North was froze last week but was opening up by Sunday.

With 4 out of the next 6 days in the 50's even a 60 thrown in there the lake should continue to open up. Next week looks like mostly in the 40's so that should not encourage freezing especially with night time lows just under freezing.
