Lake Conway Passive Fishing Devices Survey

Please click on the link below to take a survey on the use of passive fishing devices (yo-yos, limblines, trotlines). This survey is mainly intended for Lake Conway anglers, but could be answered by anyone who fishes in Arkansas. The purpose of this survey is to collect preliminary data on the use and attitudes towards passive fishing devices, specificaly on Lake Conway. I know that this is a controvertial issue and everyone has a strong oppinion on the topic. Feel free to voice your opinion. That is what this forrum is for. Done. I'd like to see surveys of this sort for all Arkansas lakes.

I think yoyos and such should be banned from AGFC owned lakes. If trotlines for Catfish are used they should required to be permitted to ensure removal. Those lakes are for sports fishers to enjoy our sport not just to fill a freezer.

Ban YoYo's, trot lines and Limb lines. Allow noddle and jug fishing for cats. Reason being these tactic's are less harmful to wild life conserves cypress trees and these items are easily seen and marked with the jugs or noddles. Do these few simple things and watch the fishing with a pole explode.

I enjoy yoyo fishing for cats, but don't believe they should be allowed to be left unattended. Would think there should be a limit to the number allowed for use as well. But heck, I don't even see anything wrong with a guy having eight poles hangin' out of his boat. :)

I do believe u could issue a fine to almost every fisherman using these methods with some of those rules , there are permanent stakes for yoyos in almost every shallow game and fish lake, and you never see any trot lines or drop lines with all the information required, not to mention only 1 yoyo per limb

We love to trot line,yo yo,fish never get out of sight!!! We feed folks that can not for some reason(less blessed) get out and enjoy god creation like us and fed them fish every Tuesday!! if these methods or done right is fun and not harmful!! need to be in sight or set at dark and pickup before daylight with name,lic number,phone number!!!! Got a trot line in my big prop last spring (ouch) that hurt!!!! Just my 2 cents!!! Thanks for all you do D-10!!!!My grandfather said someone has to clear the path before the side walk is poured with cement!!!

It is impossible to enforce these devices. and enforcement cannot keep up with the violations So Ban them on AGFC lakes and end the insanity. Dont know about some of your lake's but it looks like the wild wild west out on Conway. It's sad to see all the lines YOYO's and trot lines left in the trees here

i thought state law said you have to be is site of your yo-yo's, noodles, jugs, and trout lines from sun up till sun down??? :dono I will do the survey and keep my personal thoughts to myself. I guess next they will want my telephone hand crank,black walnuts and burlap sacks yes my dynamite too. I guess i will have to buy some poles and hooks darn it. :Rofl

If people don't, or won't, abide by the regulations now on the books and they are impossible to enforce, what would be the point of passing another regulation that can't be policed or enforced. I get aggravated when these devices are not used according to regulation. But instituting another unenforceable regulation won't solve the problem.

People are allot less likely to use them if they know..they can be fined by having them or possessing them on prohibited waters. I have seen this work on many waterways and it has always been a better lake as a result.

This is not another institution Reg but a reduction of the Regulaton's and devices we use to kill fish... so they may be enforced more easily.

I couldn't tell you how many alligator snapping turtles I've see on lake Conway , dead from being intangled and drown in old trot lines, these 30/40/50 year old creatures killed for no reason, makes you sick to see such a waste!!

Good way to get things changed as those Turtles are on the endangered species list.
