Its called DUCK hunting not Mallard hunting!!! Shootum!!! Duckkabob's #2 if hes going to act like a duck must be a duck!!!
whats illegal
One on the right is one of those little diver things with a chicken bill and chicken feet. I figure he's worth about $500 a lb.:Rofl
Left pic is a hen hooded merganser. I sure hated to leave at 8am even though nothing was going on. It was a pretty morning.
We catch, clean a lot of white bass!!! We eat fish every tuesday about 10 -20 folks, white bass, catfish, channel, flathead, blues if we can catch them, buffalo, bass, crappie, hybrid stripers, trout, bream. They eat it like its good very little is left!!! its all in how it is prepared and cooked!!! One mans trash is another mans treasure!!!
RCC if your going to duck hunt please get out of city park. Timber never has trash ducks only in city parks and city sewer They all taste like chicken.
I agree RCC. I'm not shooting a Yard Dart (Merganser) or a Grebe. I tried eating a Merganser once and it tasted kind of like the way a dead and rotten minnow smells. As far as the Grebes, I have a "pet" pair that hangs around and I wouldn't shoot one of them for anything.
Crappie Greg, you are welcome to stop and eat some more ducks at Spring Camp. I'm sure I'll have another 10-12 lbs cooked up!!
RCC I have never been duck hunting. I would love to sit in a blind and take some pictures. I have had duck fajita and duck sausage. Also some wrapped with bacon. I know the bacon is cheating but I enjoyed all.
I gave up duck hunting when I wrote 'sweat' out of my contract in 1986 or thereabouts. It was not hard to do, as "DUCKS" left us in any appreciable number in the early 80's. Since then, you now have to "be somewhere" to shoot a duck. In 1978 you did not have to "be somewhere" to shoot a duck. You could shoot a duck almost anywhere. Stand inside Arkansas border, spit on the ground, call, wait, shoot. Retrieve, breast them out, grill, eat.
Now? Nah. Too much like work just for feathered liver. Got 500 acres in Almyra (ok, I married it, but still.........), and not one duck has ever lit there. They light 1,000 yards away, always have. Not there. I killed all my DUCKS in Faulkner County. Hmmm. Or maybe Conway County, I never did see a county sign on the Arkansas River.
Oh, by the way......just so all of you know..... a DUCK has a green head. If it does NOT have a green head, it can NOT be a DUCK. It can be a pinochle bird, and on a rare occasion, a duck. But it cannot be a DUCK unless it has a green head. You're welcome.
Loser duck hunting. Did get to see the show today.

Fox squirrel? Sure has some long legs. By the size that looks it'll be like chewing on a piece of leather.
