Thats kewl looking right there
Now that is neat. You'd have to be careful when pouring the molten stuff though. Any moisture it contacts will make it almost explode.
That is neat but I bet feelay liked the high pressure water hose part the best.
That's one way of killing the queen lol
I had no idea it would look like that when done. Very cool.
That's cool for sure !!!
i wonder if lead would do the same thing?
That really is cool. Where'd all the ants go? Up in smoke I suppose!
that would be neat
That's neat, burned up some good eatin.
I'd like to do that to a few mole holes :)
That is wild.
Pretty cool. After seeing it a few ago we thought about doing it with lead. But this clay hill would have us digging for months to get it out.
What's the original mound covered with? Looks like they skipped a few details before they poured the aluminum in.
I agree, Bill. They are selling them as art, so I'm sure they are keeping some of the process secret.
That is awesome.Turned a destructive mound into a work of art. Who would have thunk!!
That is really cool and a beautiful end product. Looked like sand that they mounded up before pouring.
I don't see ants pouring out. They might have used poison on it. They had to put the hole in the top of the volcano somehow.
Bill.......I don't think a ant is gonna pour out or do anything when he is flooded and imbedded in molten aluminum
the ants are cooked into the aluminum they can't get away from the hot liquid !!!
How did they cover the nest, drill the hole, and pour the aluminum without any ants?
I know the molten aluminum would kill them, but it took some prep work before they poured it.
Ok, I been thinking about this cause it looks awesome! If you placed one of those bug bombs next to the mound and covered the mound and bug bomb with a bucket or something would that kill the ants? Then you would be free to work without fighting the little boogers. Either that or do it at night cause everyone knows they don't bite after dark, wink, wink!
I agree with the night time thing. I think you could put the powdered poison on them a few days in advance to kill them, then do the prep work. I use the Surrender or whatever it's called. Rees suggested it to me for the place at Sardis, and it works fast!!!! I think the smell kills em. :-)
when ya gonna try it Bill ? wonder how hot aluminum has to be to melt ?
That's a good question "G". Don't know the melting temp of aluminum. Looks like it takes quite a bit too. I might have to melt down a Jon boat. Lol
There are some purdy big nests on the Corp ground behind me at Sardis. Those things might need a wheel barrow full of aluminum. They might come out the size of a Christmas Tree. Hehehe
