Right now they are running all turbines and have the spillway gates open. I would assume the water is rushing down river like crazy. I want to go myself but think it would be of no use under these conditions. I will try to go when it settles back down.
That kills my plans for tomorrow.
Yeah, that is a long drive anyway, I'll just stay here around the house and fish.
They have finally slowed down on pulling the water and it should be getting better soon. The water level is about 5 feet below full summer pool, which is normal for this time of year. I am going to try to go tomorrow to either Logan Martin or Neely Henry.
Looking at getting a little sun myself Roger. Probably do Logan. Leave a few for seed wherever you go.
Come up here to the Big G. They are biting pretty good , got 17 in 4 hours. But, the water is down, wonder why they're "pulling" so much? Reckon they're expecting a wet winter, spring and/or power demands?
Water temp 47, Air temp 50, clarity, 3 - 4 feet, some gentle current, South east wind 3 - 5, later layed, fished from noon until 4:45 (sundown). Small ones 3 - 5 feet, keepers 7 - 9 feet in 19 feet of water. Pink & white worked, chartreuse & black Road Runner, minnows, no go. All double rigged. Casting is only thing working, Bobby Garland Monkey MIlk, blue & white, small swim baits, small jerk baits, tite lining, trolling, no go.
Full moon, solunar tables say mid day, bite was later. By then my fingers were too cold!! Had to come in, left heater in truck (didn't think I'd need it, DUH!) not again!!
Sounds like a pretty good afternoon. Im basically a Logan Martin dock shooter and do a little bit a fishing on warrior river but am really interested in learning some new spots.Thought about branching out to Neely Henry and Guntersville. Heard great things about both. I like to shoot docks and cast structure but would really like to learn to catch these rascals deep by vertical fishing. Any advise or tips on either lake would be greatly appreciated and also good places to launch? Thanks !!
I like to launch at Goose Pond and Waterfront. Tackle, bait shop & lighted ramps. Long lining hasn't been working for me this week. Casting has been working fair. BG Monkey Milk, swim baits minnow types, even threw a few small cranks & jerk baits. Other folks been catchin 'em, but not me. Even tried my new $150 LED submersible green light last night until 9 PM. Plenty of shad / minnows, but no luck. Maybe somebody else will give you the secret, mine are not working!
Thanks for the tips...calling for alot of wind tomorrow so i gues I'll go hunting but I cant wait to get back after some slabs!! Good luck !!
