Ice Auger?....hmmmm, I will have to ask my wife what she uses to cut the hole in the ice for me.......I have no idea:popcorn
Hope so, been a few years since had good ice to go. I really enjoy it, bought a ice flasher and it is a blast! It is like playing a video game, I was jerking it away from them anticipating the bite.
I've never been, not sure if I want to or not.....heard many good thing and have heard many bad things.
It definitely can be dangerous, if you use common sense and go with a buddy. I always wait for awhile, rule of thumb is take the day high and the night low and add them together, divide by 2, if it is below 32 the ice is getting thicker, above 32 you are looking ice. I like 6" of good ice and really like to see others on the ice before Ingo fishing.
Use to do lots of ice fishing as it was the only choice you had 6 months out of the year if you wanted to fish.
Actually lots of fun sitting out there watching each other freeze rotfl
Very good advice here: Ice Thickness and Strength for Various Loads
Fired my auger up the other night and am ready. I absolutely love it. Probably my favorite way to fish.
Arctic Armor
great for keeping you warm and shedding the wind...very lightweight (entire suit only weighs 6 lbs)

Always wanted to try it on a couple farm pond I know that have big crappie, just don't know enough about presentations to want to freeze my ass off.
I went this morning to Boyd lake! -9 when I got there, popped an 11" black crappie right off the bat and then the trout moved in and couldn't catch anything but stockers after that! Ice fishing is awesome! I have used the artic armor float suit for 3 years now and love it! Picked up a Striker float coat on clearance that is pretty nice too! Haven't used my hut yet... just roughing it out on the ice so far! lol
Looks like the ponds are getting thick. I saw some calves walking around on a small pond and a horse out on the ice of a good sized pond. Might have good ice for the weekend if it stays cold. Be safe.
drifter duckman may have an auger to loan ya or maybe to give ya
Arctic armor the only way to go have had mine for a number of years. The summer after a got it wore it out on pontoon jumped in floated like a raft. I had two big guys hang on me and did not sink great stuff.
Really great to hear the result of your test Blackdog. My brother and I purchased our Artic Armor suits last year and used them a lot last winter and again this year. Cant say enough about how warm and comfortable they are. Great piece of mind knowing that we would be able to stay afloat and dry enough to survive.
