I always put mine in forward.....be sure to take note of which direction you impellor is curled and put the new one in curled the same direction
Where ever you have the motor at as far as gears just dont move any of that once you take it off. Watch some You Tube videos for your model motor. Easy peasy following a couple of different vids.
Had mine done yesterday at performance Marine in Sardis- $125- I ain't no mechanic.
It's easy. Done 100's of em.
Thanks for the replys. Going to try it Saturday I think.
So easy I can so it. Lol. Go to YouTube n search for a video on it. It helps seeing someone do it
DD aint lying---only water problem he's had since he changed his himself was----
:biggrin
Pretty easy I have done 100's of them
Youtube will have tons of videos showing you how...it's a very easy job.
Yes, it is a 2 stroke. Is there a difference in changing a 2 and 4 stroke motor? Im going to watch youtube videos today then try it. I watch the 25 hp video that also changed some sort of a sealed gascatte and the only part I bought was the impeller. I hope I'm not missing something.
Just be careful when taking it apart and putting back together, there are a couple of gaskets and sometimes a rubber ring on top of the housing. 99% of the time these are fine to re-use.
I bought the kit for mine. It had a big flat gasket ad well. Mines a merc though
Hey macpappy, if for some reason that isn't the problem? Don't let any dealer tell you that the "bladder" under the power head got froze up and needs to be replaced. There is no such thing as this bladder, I was told that I might have to get mine changed, and another guy was told the same thing. Must be the latest scam going around. Or ask to see a picture of it on the spec sheet.
And I won't tell you where it was that told him that--I was surprised--but crappie1 knows the place to go from now on!!
While you are in there put the whole kit in. It comes with the bottom plate with seal and all gaskets. Only 4 extra bolts to remove
Last time my bladder froze when it finally broke loose it took all day for it to empty :D
Flo-Max will help lol
