OK, guys/gals what do yall say about a food list for larto? Do we want to get together just for a fish fry or for both the fry and the pot luck meal? And also if we have enough people willing, how about doing the fish fry on Friday night? I know this is a change from our normal but I think most of us are going to be up there on Thursday and I know Deacon will not be there on Saturday. Just let me know what yall think and we will go from there. I can go any way yall want to with this.

Friday good for fish fry. Any other places to eat near by, if we don't do a pot luck? Or we could kick in and grill burgers and sausage instead of a pot luck. Could have chips and deserts. Just suggestions. Danny

How about this. We do a pot luck on Thursday night, a fish fry on friday night and eat the left overs from the pot luck on Saturday night? I am open to suggestions. Also I can bring some homemade sausage if we want to do the burgers and sausage like Danny said.
Dwayne, just keep the shrimp you caught in reserve for Toledo Bend. I am close to starting the thread on the Toledo Bend food list, but didn't want it to run into this one - guess I'll wait.
pot luck=thur. fish fry=friday. leftovers=Saturday. im good with that.

I will bring some shrimp for frying on Friday night and a dessert. I will bring some sasuage for the pot luck on thursday night.
We will need someone to bring a fryer and some oil if someone has one that is coming. I don't have a big fryer or I would bring one.
Dwayne I will do a veg/beef soup for lunch Saturday, if we make it up there. Claudia might have me doing other things with it being just after Christmas.

Oldyankee, they may have good food there (I don't know, have never ate there) but like someone once told me...."You better have what you need when you go up there, b/c they do have a store but you never know how late it will be open." Not trying to knock your sister in law and granted this was many years ago, and things may have changed but it is too far from everything for me to take a chance on the store being open.
I think my wife and I are going to be able to make it . Sure would like to meet some of you

Talked to some friends who went across the dirt road from Marksville, said it too an additional hour because the road was so bad.
Sorry to be " in" and now out but I just heard from my son who is coming in for Christmas from California. I haven't seen him in a few years and don't want to miss a moment. Hope y'all do it again in the spring

man--I hate to say this, but me and my dad are out too. the only time we could get all the Weldon's together was after Christmas. and that prevents us from coming. we will miss yall and be there in spirit.

Can I get a ball park head count of how many might be showing up for soup on Saturday?
Okay I went through both threads and came up with Shadow,Deacon, Miccro Sal/son, Big John,Jigman09, CeeGee, Southern Chuter,MS2335/Dad/son, Slab Hunter, Beau Bayou, Danny/Warren for a total of 16. Add family members if you will. It's getting time for a better count and a solid food list. Some won't make it Thursday, but remember we are eating leftover Saturday. Danny
Ceegee and I are bringing 3 gal peanut oil for the fish fry. Oldyankee was bringing the fryer but he's son is coming in from Callie so that leaves us without a fryer. I some soft drinks and paper goods I could throw in there. I'll bring some cornmeal if that's the way y'all want the fish fried.
Ok, here is what we have so far.....
Shadow --- Sausage and a dessert for Thursday night and shrimp for frying on Friday night
Jigman and Ceegee --- Peanut oil, cornmeal, drinks and paper goods
dpisani --- Chili for Thursday night
I know Deacon is probably bringing something for Friday night but I don't want to speak for him.
Beaubayou --- Cooking a veg/beef stew for us on Saturday around lunch.
WE STILL NEED A FRYER!!!
Sure isn't a lot of food, hope some others speak up soon or it may be every man for himself.
I don't have a fryer, but I have 2 grand pappys if it comes to that.
Dwayne I got word from the "Boss" that we will be there on Thursday night or Friday morning, so Saturday is a go. I will have the soup, crackers, garlic bread, bowls, spoons, cokes, water, and some adult drinks. The water is up a little so boaters can tie up to the walk way or bulkhead and I was going to ask my neighbor if we can tie up on there dock also if it is needed. Soup will be ready for 11 AM Saturday. I have gotten 2 folks so far, just let me know I would hate to run out.Quote:

Dwyane, I only counted you, did not know about your family. Could actually be about 22 or so with families. Some won't be there Thursday. I will bring my 2 grand pappies to help with frying.
We'll bring a Chicken and Sausage Sauce Piquante with rice for Thursday. I will bring my fryer; I see CeeGee is bring oil; it takes 3 gallons.
I'll also bring frozen fries and hush puppies for Friday night.
I just picked up a gallon bottle of Louisiana brand fish fry to bring. I 'll bring Tony's and mustard for dipping the fish.

OK, I messed up a little bit...Cegee and Jigman will not be coming in until Friday so if someone wants to bring drinks and paper goods for Thursday night, that would be much appreciated!
I will be bringing up some plates,bowls and plastic ware that jigman09 and I already have( a lot). Also I picked up a 3 pack of paper towels. I think we should all bring our own drinks. Gonna miss Buster's coffee pot. Will visit with it at Toledo Bend gathering.
Sorry Danny, but I can't bring the coffee pot to Larto, momma has another plan for me after Christmas.
I am just hoping she will let me and the boys go fishing at all.
