No wonder it wouldn't run. Rob got here n checked the gas tank. Pulled a sample n wow at the water in the tank. Last gas I got was on the coast. Glad Im not getting gas there regularly. Just amazingAttachment 143917

You got it right.
1/2 full of water , that's nuts.
Lol if that was one of my drinks, it'd hurt ya lol
how much did they charge you fer the WATER
Well back then gas was bout $3.50 a gallon on the coast so I guess bout $1.75 for the water lol
Sawthat after I got swamped at Grenada a few years ago.
Most likely it didn't come from the gas station. I was having trouble with water in my fuel also. When you don't keep your tank full or near full, condensation builds up. As cheap as you are, I'm betting you are keeping less than a 1/4 tank in there most of the time. I've been keeping mine full and haven't been having any more problems.
All I got to say is:

EVERY TIME YOU GET FUEL!!!!!
Mmm... Looks Tasty. Throw a cherry in it and call it a Tom Collins. :Rofl
Stabuill won't stop condesation, full tank stops that. Under a cover helps a lot with condisation as well.
It's true that a full tank will reduce condensation, however, Sta-bil prevents the ethanol from separating from the gasoline if the fuel sits in the tank too long. Ethanol, being a form of alcohol, is lighter than gasoline and will rise to the top. Alcohol based chemicals absorb water from the air. Since Sta-bil prevents the separation, the ethanol has no chance to absorb moisture from the atmosphere.
Mine got water in the gas tank after 2ft of water came over the tank vent.
Good info Speck, thanks. I run Seafoam a good bit myself and keep my boat covered and it works for me so far. Run ethanol free when its Handi but feel that it is most likely just a racket to get more money per gallon.
I run seafoam through mine every other tank and unless I happen to be out of it, I put stabil in every tank. I think I was out on the coast though on that tank. Feelay , I fill it up, then go until I need more. I can usually go 5-6 trips without putting more gas in it. I did find out yesterday that the gas station up on 471 has ethanol free gas. Food didn't look that bad either. Lol
I use Stabil....I also fill up after every fishing trip to keep tank full. I also installed a water separator filter that I change once a year ......have not had any problems and have been running gas with ethanol since 2006
what do is sta-bil and seafoam every fill up even if I get ethanol free gas or not , because you never know for sure if its ethanol free or not or if it has water in it !!! I also have a inline Marine Water Separating Fuel Filter and change it every 12 months !!! it has worked great for me for years !!!
Will Seafoam prevent the alcohol/gas separation or do you need Stabil for that?? I had been using Seafoaml since I heard so much good stuff about it and I buy ethanol free gas, at least the sign says it is. But I would like to have the fuel stabilization as well. Does Seafoam do all that or just clean the engine?
Need stabil as well
A water fuel separator wouldn't hurt either
We all cringe when we see the price of ethanol free fuel at the station or especially on the lake at the marina. Guys are running 10,000 dollars on the cheap end for a boat up to way to much.Got another 35,000 dollar pickup to pull it, I would hate to guess how many dollars in poles, tackel, minners, and everything else that we think we need. So we all go gee wiz I'm not going to pay an extra 50 cents a gallon for fuel ( most guys thats 3 or 4 dollars a trip). We all learn the hard way that its better to pay alittle more upfront than waiting and paying more to fix it. So next time you go by that pump say to yourself. Self dont be JADA and fill up with the good stuff.
DD, how many weeks/months did it take for you to get your 5-6 trips out of your tank? It may have sat 1/2 full longer than you realize. I have also heard that a boat stored on dirt instead of concrete is more prone to condensation. Don't know about that one, but it came from local mechanics. I also have a water separator/filter and will not run a boat without one. I use the mercury brand fuel stabilizer/treatment that calls for one ounce for every 10 gallons of gas.
If you bought Ethanol, it has phase separated. Can't store ethanol over a few months before it starts to break down. The alcohol molecule absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and separates from the gas like oil and vinegar. I see that a lot.
BTW, Stabil for ethanol helps, but is just a way to slow down the separation. It's not fool proof.
That's just my normal time between fillups. I haven't put gas in the boat since my trip to the coast around July or so. It sat in the backyard of my old house for a couple or 3 months, then it's been sitting at the new house for a couple more. I haven't had the boat in the water since July. He used a fuel/water separator yesterday and strained it all out, then took the carbs out and cleaned them. It got dark on him yesterday so he was coming back this morning to finish the job
the whole problem is your not fishing enough. I thought that was all you guys do in MS just fish.
That appears to be way more than condensation. I'm not sure it condenses in the tank unless it is put in there someway. My lawnmower gas can's (4) never condense. Also I have always stored my boats inside a building and have never had problems in 45 years. Has to be in the gas or sucked in or rained in through a vent IMO. How did it run right after you bought that gas? Right after I filled up has been the only time I have ever had a water issue and that was easy to trace back to where I bought the gas. Not trying to stir, just saying.
Even if he strained it 5 times i bet u can pour it out on the ground and u cant set it on fire. Been there done that
:scratchhead
Do as you please, but once gas has separated, chevron engineers can't put it back together. Do your wallet a favor and DEMAND that old gas be removed. Then fill it with non ethanol and stabil and keep it that way as little a your fishing these days. FILL being operative word.
Or....ignore this advice and we will continue to be entertained, delighted and amused at your antics. Gewber.
