fishing today my auto bildge pump came on, then I turned on the manual bilge also.
My question is , what's the most likely source of the leak?. drain plug was tight.
live well was full of water, seemingly working well
what should I check 1st?
thanks

Was boat outside during a rain ??
Over flowing live well??? <*)}}}><
Livewell hose or fitting with a crack in it. Loose screws in the rub rail if it is a glass boat.
Hose clamp on inside of hull fittings to livewell...
Put boat on trailer and add water to bilge...
If water comes out from the opening of the livewell intake...the leak is somewhere in that livewell intake line...
If there's no indication there...fill the livewell up to overflowing...
Maybe Chatt is correct ...the overflow line may be leaking...

An issue that I faced with water in bilge was the livewell overflowing, My issue was when i would run the fill pump (not the recirculating pump) it would fill faster than the water would exit through the little 1 inch overflow tube in hull, I ran a peice of weed eater string through the one inch overflow at the top of the livewell without any issues, the dang pump was just putting water in the livewell at a larger volume than it could easily get rid of.
The fix for me was to take the inlet jet and push it in further inside the well and restrict the flow from the fill pump just a little.
Hope this helps if this is indeed the issue. I had to adjust it until I could get the same rate of fill and overflow matched
Could be water leaking out of your hds unit..............lol.........had to say that
I dipped it in epoxy 3x.
IT'S GOOD
Livewell
Cracked or broken fitting on pump
I have a old Ranger that was leaking. It turned out that the sleeve the drain plug fits into was loose. Took it out and reset it in epoxy and everything was good. Just a thought.
thanks everyone, for now I'm guessing my live well was over flowing and getting to the bildge.
no water yesterday, didn't use live well,
I bought a brand new Targa deep v a few years ago and if I was in rough water at all I would always end up with water in the bilge when I filled the live well. If I didnt fill the live well the bilge stayed dry. It turned out that when the live well was full the water would splash up around the top the live well which was not sealed to the floor so water would leak over and run into the bilge.
Another possibility. If you had fish in the well and it was full of water. A fish tail was covering the overflow. If your live wells are not sealed to the bottom of the deck, your fill pump was filling up the boat. Had this happen to me and had to install the fill pump screen that is on the transom (step area) of the boat. Look at a bass boat transom, you will see the screens covers next to the drain plug. It took a while to figure out what was going on.
no water lately, thanks
