Attachment 142298Attachment 142297 I've tied a hundred chartreuse jigs but these are my two favorites so far and they're both blue. Any suggestions on where I can clean things up? Seems like I am using more tail material then most of the ones I've looked at. Also, I'd like to note that my wife has relegated me to the basement, has this happened to anyone else?
The way the picture is I can't tell a lot about your tail, but are you leaving the stem in on the marabou? It's okay, but better if you take it off the stem, stack it until you have enough, pinch to pick up and tie it in. It's kind of hard at that angle to really see how you tied it, but from what I can see they look fine.
If you show from the side more it's easier to see something's that we may could help with, don't know though for sure. The amount of tail material looks about right.
The blue on both jigs is artic fox. On the first jig that is pink marabou in the tail, just a couple strands which I may have left the stem on but I can't remember. On the first one I was really just trying to find a way to use up the small pink chenille I bought so I put it along the hook shank on top of the silver and put the pink marabou in to try to tie it all together. On the ones I tie with just marabou I've started using less and less. It might be better for you to see those. I'll take some pictures when I get home. Appreciate the help, no one I know ties so it's good to get some input from people who know what they're doing.
Money. Beautiful jigs and they'll catch all day long. Good combos and accents. I like the pink chenille accent and red stinger flash. Shows style. Great work with the fox tail. Really looks like you've done it bf.
If you're tying marabou in tip clumps, there is no stem in them, so no worries. They'll move just as well and break less easily. They are just less Wiley and more compact. I like and do better with em that way.

Jigs looking great. Really like the red flash on the second one. As far as being sent to the basement to do your tieing, just be thankful to have that. My sweetheart has already said I need someplace outside the house....looks like I need to build me a barn/shop to do mine in....LOL

About your photo, I put a piece of foam core poster board behind the item I'm trying to photograph, makes the clutter disappear. You're lucky your wife let's you stay in the house
Makes sense, better then looking at our box pile for sure and would probably cut down on the glare from the tv. She's been pretty tolerant so far, we'll see what she thinks when this next order comes in. Her other choice this time of year is dealing with my waterfowl obsession and these jigs take up a lot less space.

Just to show you how non-cluttered background make the subject stand out. That way all the details on your jig will be readily apparent . Macro setting on the digital cameras make close ups fairly easy for us amateur photographers.

B81, If you have waterfowl feathers they work out great for tying also.
