walnut grove cops

Ridiculous is all I can say. Pulled over for the second time this year by the same guy for no trailer tag. This time he followed me almost 2 miles out the city limits before pulling me over. Told me I didn't have a trailer tag, told him I didn't have to have one in kansas, then he asked if I could prove that it was my boat and that I didn't steal it! So I had to dig out my boat registration and give him my drivers liscense, 15 minutes later he figured out I was from kansas and that was my boat. I asked him what I needed to do to keep him from pulling me over and his reply was that he pulls over all boats and cattle trailers after dark. Get a life.

So, basically he's going to stop you tag or no tag:dono years ago I lived in Memphis and fished Ms. Got into the same deal cause TN didn't require tag for boat trailer. Got to be such a hassle I made them sell me a tag for a utility trailer. Don't sound like a tag would solve your problem though.

Best revenue souce the town has probably, been that way for 30 years probably won't change. I wouldn't want their job and most cops are professional and courteous but some times someone becomes a small town policeman or deputy through default more than qualification. Only place i found worse was Macks Creek on Hwy. 54 but that eased up some years ago after so many complalints.

you just can't fix stupid, but I understand why he would stop a boat trailer after dark, no telling how many cows you could steal and hide in your boat..........

Pulling a boat or cattle trailer after dark isn't probable cause for a car stop. He could make the argument that the trailer didn't have a tag, but IF he is stopping every trailer he sees, he could get in trouble!!!!

A few years back, coming home one evening from Stockton in a procession of 3 trucks pulling their boats.....Me in the middle .....go through Walnut grove. I had noticed the boat in front had no tags. Like you said....About 2 miles out of town, Lites a blazin, he pulls ahead of all three of us. Blocks the road, and tells us to pull into a long drive. Asked what was going on....He says we were all speeding. I knew the limit was 25.....and might have been going 28-29. Got my FIRST speeding ticket in 46 years of driving. Said I was going 31. Went to their court on appointed day....It was closed!!! Called and they said it had been rescheduled. Went back to court to pay my fine and argue......And the Lady tells me you can pay double and it won't show on your record. After a lot of discussion with her, I agreed. Guess it worked....Never showed up on my insurance. Now I go through there at 10-15mph and wave when I see him.

coming back from loz long ago and get to versaills and turn on to 52, shortly a red light comes on behind me, no siren but a red light in the grill, thought no way, so just kept going he would try to pass me and I would swing over in his lane, finally after about 5 miles he pulled back and quit just glad he didn't start shooting........ wasn't in a mood to deal with him, reminded me to much of keeferfish........sorry but just a red light in a grill don't get me.........

Beagle, I quit hauling cows in my boats a few years ago, you know how hard it is to get crappie nibbles out of your carpet, imagine cow poo! The bad thing was he was starting to pull out of his hiding spot before I even got to him to know I didnt have a tag on the trailer. I never speed thru their, I use the cruise and set if 5 below the speed limit. I am switching routes, I will be now testing the ash grove, everton, dadeville police depts. He said I bet you get pulled over alot with no tag, and I said twice, right now and you earlier in the year. He said it was a good way for him to get fishing reports, I didnt find the humor, took half an hour to find out I indeed lived in kansas, I had a valid liscense, the truck and boat were mine, and not stolen. Mike has a good kansas police story? Do tell.

The little park ranger from spring camp a few years ago that met Betty Lou on Bugman and Long Liners boat may have grown up to be a cop down there!!! I will never forget the look on that kids face when he turned around and seen ole Betty Lou. Did not take him long to head for his truck.

Mark,make sure you stay within the speed limit in ash grove.I think they have 6 cops there including one bad one.

I had a feeling macks creek was going to come up here....lol. my hometown. One word -revenue. All about $$$$$$$ I didn't think they could pull you over outside the city limits though. In highschool we would get halfway up the hill and "give her hell" he would alway@ make chase. But always turned around at the city limit sign. The good.ol days

I've made a few high speed runs back up the hill towards Camdenton myself with the red lights behind me. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depending on the weight of your boat you might need a tag in ks, anything over 2k needs a tag.

didn't know they had that much trouble with boats but cattle rustleing is a big problem down south and they will stop every cattle trailer after dark, years ago Mo. was #3inthe nation for cattle rustleing and since most farmers don't haul at nite that's why they target them

Seems to me there was a scam similar to this in Texas years ago about a small town between Belton and Ft Hood. If I remember right The local cops of Nolonville were targeting vehicles on the interstate from the side roads, then chasing them down and ticketing them, taking them in front of the magistrate judge. If they couldn't afford to pay the oversized sized fines, their vehicles were impounded and sold at auction to pay the fines. Well after a time people got tired of the hassel, and there was a big worthstory about it on 60 minutes. Then the Austin got to investigating into it. Seems the Courts in Nolonville hadn't paid the taxes on any of the ill gotten fines, and had to sell off all but one of it's police cars and a whole lot of other things that was purchased with these funds, in order to pay the taxes. Seems to me, if my memory is right, the Judge and police chief served some time behind it to.....might be worth investigating. Just my :twocents worth.

Funny story on that one. Those cops in Mack's Creek finally pulled over a prosecuting attorney from another county who ended up getting several of those guys fired. Huge speed trap and cops that were asinine.
