To get your concealed carry license? And how much it cost? I seen here where y'all have talked bout it before
It's a "permit", not a license. Go to MHP station near you that processes the applications (not all of them do). Pick up the application, fill it out and take it back. Cost is supposed to be $127.00 for first time permits. Renewals are a little less.
If you want one you need to do it cause I heard they are fixxin to go to all new ones being ENHANCED instead of having the option not to get the enhanced. Got to go to class for it.
What exactly is the difference in enhanced and regular?
Enhanced gives you more options as to where you can carry concealed. Other than that I am not sure, more money.
For the enhanced carry permit you must take a class from a state approved instructor that includes live firing (most instructors are NRA certified and that's the course they teach). It's up to the instructor how much he/she charges for the class. The enhanced permit will be recognized by more states in reciprocal agreements, and, as John said, you are allowed to carry in many more places (including schools and sporting events) than with the regular permit.
Be advised that they will want your fingerprints on file, or at least, that was how it was when I went to get one. Needless to say, I do not have the permit. If you get one without fingerprinting, let me know as I'd still like to have one.
Max....who you hiding from? Finger printing doesn't hurt, unless you are a fugitive or something.
Hahahahahaha.
I'm just going to chalk it up to you guys not knowing that you're talking to a lawyer. Trust me. The fewer ways the authorities have to identify you the better off you are. Today's citizen is tomorrow's fugitive. Y'all do what you want, but I ain't getting in no line.
Too late for me....I had a minor run in back during my college days. They took my prints, didn't get a choice. ;)
Hey Max.......you can run but you can't hide
We have to take a class to get any conceal carry permit in AR. Then you have to take a refresher to renew.
Been seeing a lot of open carry lately
I guess MO concealed carry is automatically an "enhanced" permit. You must take a class including a live fire portion to get a permit.
ha ha....didn't figure you were lol
99.8 % of the lawyers give the rest of them a bad name.
I looked but couldn't find it. I went to Mississippi Department of Public Safety | Keeping Mississippi Safe and printed off an application, some 6 pages, not all needed.
All pages need to be notarized ($$), a passport picture ($5 to $15) and money, $132., no money orders. $100 for the permit and $32 for fingerprinting.
My IC class was $75 plus $13 for the range. I've seen some listed with range time as much as $300.
Our renewal fee is $25 every 5 years for the permit. The IC class will be another $75 to $300 added to that.
The IC class is volunteer for now. It gives you more options to carry. It will be required, date hasn't been set. Yes, the IC class will have to be taken again is what I hear.
The lady that I was renting from in Nashville, TN took her carry class while I was there. 2 nights of classroom and range time, then you get your paper work. A trip to get fingerprinted and to the highway patrol office. Time lost from work and gas hit her for about $550.
I ain't about to start talking about the Declaration of Independence here (wrong forum), but let me just say that government is made for one thing: governing ie. controlling others. As long as the majority believe that politicians can police them better than they can themselves, we will have government. You can get in line, you can stay hidden, or you can die fighting them. Those are the only three options. Believe me. I've looked for others. If you ever read the Declaration of Independence and pay attention to its words, you will hate the United States' Constitution as much as I do, but that is all I'm saying. This is not the place to say more.
IM me if you have interested to pursue this topic further.
Wasn't trying to start anything, I was shocked at how much it cost for the classes and permit in Ms compared to Al. What's real shocking is that I can carry concealed in Ms
cheaper than Ms folks can ???
I haven't read all the rules of concealed carry in AL yet. How does your weapons permit apply to other state rules.
TN is a concealed carry state. With a MS weapons permit the gun has to be in plain view, it can be loaded. Without a permit the gun and ammo must be in different compartments. With the IC patch you can carry concealed.
MS is an open/concealed state. With or without a weapons permit you carry open. With an IC patch you can carry open or concealed. New rules of where you can carry are popping up daily. The thing that we are trying to get passed is that it can't be a piece of paper with "no weapons allowed" printed on it. It has to be the sticky thing like "no smoking" has. I paid my water bill the other day. I took the piece of paper off of the door and handed it to my cousin and told her to put up an offical sign, this one wasn't any good. Mostly if a sign is at the door, they don't want my business.
In Michigan the class when I took it was $100 for an 8hr. class. They furnished coffee & rolls & lunch. The range time was free. Finger printed, picture taken, and the CPL is good for 5 years, then a refresher course.
Here are the states that I can conceal carry in with my Alabama Permit.
These same states honor the Ms. permit also.

MO has reciprocal agreements with 33 other states. Basically, if another state recognizes Mo's concealed carry permits, MO recognizes cc permits from that state as well.
