Hi guys, I am new to crappie fishing. Does anyone know what color jigs work the best in lake minneola?
That water is a bit clearer than some of the other Clermont Chain lakes. I think minnows work well in Mineola, but I've only fished it a couple of times. Maybe someone else had more insight.
Thanks crappielover for the info!
Bobber26 is that my bobby, my therapist?
Hey, stu, take this boy under your wing for me.
I have family that lives on that lake and I've been a couple times for catfish and recreation, but never tried looking for the speck. Lots of boat traffic over the summer season, but I'll eventually try to find some good spots to longline up there. This spot peaked my interest last time I was there... most dropoffs and structures I've seen in lakes that I've been to down here.

As for color, some similar lakes in the area I've done well with black/blue with chart tail, john deere, acid rain, and black/red neon chart tail.
You are on the right color chart to start with..........expand from there....
especially in most Florida lakes due to staining.
welcome from area clermont/minneola person if though I live 5 minutes from the ramp I have only fished it once I am still limited on how I can fish ( momentary switch trolling motor and no electronics ). I need to get out there and find some.
Hey Linda, yes it's Bobby.
eWhile getting minnows this morning saw a black/blue chart tail jig and the only fish took it so will get some more. Thanks for the info.--shu
Thanks everyone for the info on the jig colors! That's a big help! Does anyone know what kind of battery I would need for a minnekota 28Ib thrust trolling motor? I have a 14 ft v hull boat with a 10 horse motor on the back, worried about the weight of the battery. Trolling motor is in the back. Thanks !
Group 27 Should Be Good For That I Currently Use A Group 29 And That Will Push Me For A Couple Of Days With A 48Lb Thrust
Assuming you have an aluminum boat, 28 lb thurst would take a 12 volt deep cycle - Walmart probably cover the cost (wgt of approx 75 lbs)
at around 92-95.00 Should get somewhat around 6 -7 hrs life per day out of it.
running troller and 1 depth finder, and off/on live well. (78 qt coleman cooler with
circulator water sprayer inside)
Has anyone fished lake Emma in the clermont chain? I know that u put in on 19 , but how far is it from the boat ramp to lake Emma? Thanks!
if you put in at 19 go north in the canal and cross lucy to the canal to emma that may be your only obstacle though depending on water level, never put in over there tried to get to cherry one day from minneola but that did not work due to water level
You can put in off of 19, but you gotta got North...if you go left, under the bridge, you can be subject to low water levels. If you go North, follow the canal and stay in the middle...it's only about 3 feet deep. Lucy and Emma are beautiful lakes, they definitely have crappie in them, but I think they are much better bass lakes.
Looks like to me a Jon boat and portage commin up.
Thats how we were pretty much able to get into lake Buffum...Had water not
been as high as was, would have had to use 4-wheel drive and lots of pulling
strength.
There are no fish in Emma or Lucy. not worth the effort so don't try!
spoken by man who has been in that area and worked those lakes..
Thanks for update Ron (Yelim)
Thank you everyone for the info on Lake Lucy and Emma!
Thanks Linda , I will check it out. Does anyone have any advice on how to fish a cold front? I ' ve heard fishing a couple days before and after are better.
My 2 cents 3 days or so after but this isn't really a cold cold front might just wake rm up to feed
Hey guys, I was out fishing on the lake the other day and went to start my motor and pulled the rope all the way out and it didn't recoil. I have a 10 horse evinrude. Doesn't look like anything is broken. Part of the rope slowly recoils and then it stops. Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Thanks,
Bobby
sounds like the recoil spring broke.
i agree with John, sounds like recoil spring let go/broke and is only partially
returning ...
Take it apart and check out - most marinias will have correct coil in stock
for you.
Can go on utube and ask direct question -how to repair recoil on 10 hp evinrude motor
Bobby. Did u get my PM about rod holders the other day?
