My sons and I were fishing for catfish in Mississippi using raw shrimp for bait when he caught this. This was caught out of a 4 to 5 acre lake.

Looks like a Warmouth, Tony. Those and Green sunfish are all 'goggle eyes' in my neck of the woods.
I agree on probable warmouth. With that said, I'm certainly no expert!
Warning: once ten people say "warmouth", I'm closing the thread.
And yes, it's a warmouth.
Bluefin tuna with a mild fin fungus.
Warmouth.....us Mississippi boys call them goggle eyes
Warmouth ...... I really don't have a clue. I just wanted to be in before the lock.... Call it peer pressure. LOL
Bobo
Thanks guys. I've always heard of warmouth but wasn't sure what they looked like.
They look just like that but different!! It's a warmouth, how many does that make? I really don't think warmouth because of the lack of distinctive lines around mouth. It may just be from discoloration from being in a cooler for a while. Is that all as clear as mud?? :+)
No red eyes,it's a hybrid. Or a weird colored war mouth? Cool fish anyway. Be it was fun to catch.

Sons biggest Warmouth. A lot darker where we fish. I maybe wrong. Fish sure look different in other places. This one was in the Texas hill country. Crystal clear water. I can't see the red eyes on this one either. But was ...
Goggle Eye. Made it before someone Warmouth....................
We call them Rock Bass around here and find them in wide spots in streams.
