Can you fish the whole lake with a MS license?
Your arent really fishing a lake so to speak, more of a river channel. Indian Creek (where yall are camping), Bear Creek (down river on the right side, cant miss it), and Yellow Creek (upstream and then to the left, cant miss it either) all can be fished with MS license. Yellow Creek turns into the Tenn Tomm waterway. If you dont know where you are stay in the markers. Very pretty place, worth the tip just for the boat ride.
You can fish into TN all the way to Pickwick Dam. Below the dam is not included in the reciprocal agreement. You can fish in AL to TN River Mile 224.8 at the mouth of Bear Creek, but not Bear Creek itself.
So you cant fish in Bear Creek on a MS License?? If not my bad, things may have changed a little since I was up there 10 years ago.
Here's a good link, shows what you can fish on MS license.

I'm reading from the TWRA regulations, MS might be different. Someone from MS might want to see how the reciprocal agreement is worded in the MS regulations.
Looks like you can fish bear creek with a ms license, but tn is limited to TRM 224.8. Seems weird that the boundaries would be different for the two. Whoever negotiated for TN got a raw deal.
We fished it some but I mainly fished over at Yellow Creek and would put in at Scruggs Bridge to keep fom running the river back up. Bama license aint but 53 or 54 bucks I think.
With MS license you can fish from pickwick dam to milemarker 226.6 at waterloo and bear creek to railroad bridge. Make sure where you are because alabama wardens dont play.
Bought Bama license this yr. to catfish Colbert ferry area . About 27 dollars for three day and about 47 dollars plus fees for annual .
Scott, don't worry too much about being confined. The areas they speak of are huge, like Rees said it is a river but unlike any you have ever fished, very wide. The coves and creeks are very large, some of them you can spend all day in.
Looks to me like plenty of water for us newbes on that water to fish with getting in trouble.
Mouth of Bear Creek is a mile wide!!!!!:yikes
bama warden ticketed me once. he gave me the ticket book and a pen and said "Here . Write what I say."
Thanks guys, I think we'll have plenty of good water to fish.
Plenty of water and different styles of fishing.
The Gant boys fish right out in front of where you camper will be. That is prime area during spring, I have seen them both down there guiding, there is deep water, shallow water, timber, pea gravel, red clay, all types of bottom, you will find what you need in the area you are staying. u can run up or down river and fish different areas too. if you choose you can load up and go to water way and fish down towards the river from here, you will be fishing Goat island, Aqua Yacht area, lots of deep water there too. I hope to be able to come and maybe fish sat morning but lookin like I will have to do the W word. I am going to do some business developement for work ;) one afternoon after you guys get down there, so I will be stopping by to see yall
I think it's about 5 miles each way. If the wind gets up and blows the wrong direction it will feel like 20.
I believe the recipricol agreement ends just past Bear Creek.
You are spot on Feesh. Never fished Bear much, matter fact coming out of Bear one time we came out of the water higher and further than I ever had in a boat, not fun. Fished Yellow Creek a bunch and when staying at JP Coleman we always drove back to Scruggs Bridge on 25, easy in and out and never crowded.
Not sure about crappie but have a caught BUNCH of green carp in the water way around Scruggs Bridge. Just have to watch for the traffic up and down it and get out of the way.
forcast is 77 thursday 81 fri and sat and no winds
I've seen people limit out fishing for crappie right there at the ramp at Scruggs in the spring. They are literally fishing the dock and ramp there. They had to reel in so we could launch our boat.
That's probably where we'll fish, in that area anyway. I've heard good things about Yellow Creek.
Just don't get too close to the goats on goat island, we watched 1 board a ski boat that got too close while feeding them earlier this year. :Rofl
Just take plenty of snacks - they love granola bars! By the way, they can't swim but they will wade to your boat!

I'll be fishing yellow creek area i hope sat.
yum yum bbq goat
i assume the red areas are still good for ms lic holders..
kinda want to fish yellow creek myself. i wonder if it is quicker to travel the river to the mouth of yellow or drive over and launch at scruggs creek...
We're thinking of driving to the state line boat ramp, above Goat Island. That way we can get minnows at the bait shop on the way.
is there any chance that we would be pulling cranks? a couple of less poles to haul
