Boy I need some practice to get better at this. I didn't like how these came out so much, but think they will work well. These are on a #10 hook. Disappointed to say the least!

theyre tied on a 1/48oz, #10 sickle hook, ball head.
Should catch some fish with them! I know these little black flies will get all kinds of fish to hit them.
I think they're great Skip but I've never been able to get that "dubbing" look down very good. My attempts always look like a mess.
It takes a lot of practice and I still am trying to get better with it as well. I am trying to learn this Rope Dub method so I can do anything I want with it. I bought the DVD from my friend that is well known for this style of tying. If you get a few extra bucks you should buy that DVD!!!Quote:

I use some little ants about like those for bluegills! They look great to me, we are always our own worst critiques.
Looks like they will catch fish...I remember reading on here somewhere that they don't have to look perfect, as nothing in Mother Nature is perfect, as long as they are close the fish don't care...But those look very good, and the fish should love 'em.
Thanks guys I just always see all the warts on anything I do. I am sure they will work well, just need to get my dubbing work a little better to be happy with it.

Skip the Ants will get it done for you and like said, no two are alike in the wild. With us being jig/fly tyers we tye in two different worlds of tying, fly tying is working with smaller materials that my big fingers have a hard time dealing with at times. While I can tye a jig fast all my fly tying is slow because of the small details.
I enjoy tying jigs but I love tying flies! Time at the tying desk is priceless and thanks for taking the time to share your work with us. :ThumbsUp

I think those ants are going to be just fine. Fish aren't that critical, they just want the fastest way to the buffet, and those look like an entree to me.
