Wow that is BRIGHT. Wait a sec let me get my sunglasses........................................ ......................... Ok, now that I can see better, that is nicely done sir,
Nice looking jig
Yep, that's bright!! Nice jig skip :)
Skip, now you need to do one with that pink and some of the Chartruse. Really knock their socks off.
I have to put my sunglasses on for that one.
Looks awesome. I mixed some hot pink and glow chart turkey butt and it looks cool. Look forward to what u make next.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind comments and I always look for something new to show with the hope it inspires someone else.
Been checking these out. Really like the look. Just wondering how they collapse in the water. Are they crosscut or zonkers? Just wonder if I could make them a lil less "fluffy"? Never use rabbit bc it'd be another thing to buy that I shldnt.
The colors are eyeball popping cool. Good jig and the other'n also.
Thank you! This rabbit only comes so far in zonker style, but regular rabbit you may like better. This one is very thick hair for a thin strip. Regular rabbit is much thinner especially if you just use crosscut. They just don't have as much hair as this kind. I suppose you could wrap them a little farther apart maybe and get that to work. I have not ever tied one where I didn't wrap one next to the other. I am sure though if you get into rabbit you will like it a lot.
Have had a few of each from friends, the bbou wasn't one I wanted to try after my first experiences. They've used it forever so maybe I'll ask to try if I don't get some bfhand.
You can also tie it long wise on top or bottom when fished. Then tie in some underneath, maybe a different color? I saw a fly tied like that so maybe I should find out how they did that and still keep it so it doesn't look like it's tied so the thread only shows at the head. Not sure how that could be though.
Were do you get it and how are you tying it ......... im confused ....sorry
I put a good thread base down from the head to the bend and then back maybe 1/4 way back to the head then I tie the rabbit hide down from there back to the bend or close then wrap it in really well and I use my extended reach finish tool to tie a 3 or 4 wrap finish. The one of the very few places I ever use super guy and I use the brush on Loctite to put a little over that thread and hide. I let it sit for a short time and then start wrapping it back to the head with each wrap of the hide next to the previous wrap. Then at the head I cut the hide and tie if off well. It's very fluffy so I keep pulling it back to make each wrap and sometimes wet it a little as I go so it will hold it self back out of the way. I know you can get it at Bob Marriott's and not sure about JS. Who ever sells Hareline products can have it.
It is cut like a zonker and can be tied along the hook shank which would be different than what I do on mine.
Wow ....... that was a very informative response i appreciate it very much the jigs of yours i have seen with it look great i think i would like to try it myself
Any time I tie in rabbit I make sure to really lock it in good so plenty thread wraps on it and the super glue which I still don't over use that glue. I don't like to use any glue that someone can feel after it's tied and that is especially so on the chenille at the head finish. That is why I make my own for that.
I am thinking about making a slide show for tying the rabbit maybe this weekend and that should help.
