You done good, rite tools make a big difference. Wish I would have had your saw the other day when I was shaving 1/4 inch off of four 4X4s.
Sure makes it easy. Wife wanted a new bed and I didn't trust the slats. We got a king platform bed so I built 3 supports out of wood I had laying aroundAttachment 137831Attachment 137832
two more slats in there and it would have been a deck
Newly Wed??????
You better run you a board across the top of those supports so all the slats can lay on them and distribute the weight. U going to bust the other slats if u dont.
Been married 9 years. Just time for a new bed
Man all this talk about breakin bed slats and such, yall got way more energy than I do every evening!:biggrin
Lol GDG. Done broke a sleigh bed where the metal hooks on to the wood frame hehe.
x2 on the board. Then you could have only ran with two supports. One around the chest area and the other around the knee area. This way more support would be area the heavy parts of the body instead of the head and feet. ;)
Gonna have to put a better board on the end. I usually sit on the end of the bed in the morning and put my shoes and socks on. SNAP. Already broke the end board. the supports worked great on the bed but being a 1x2 ain;t gonna work with my fatt rear end sitting on it. Think I'll add a 1x4 on the end to support my old fat butt in the mornings. LOL
Nice work, you'll be doing GDG quality work before long.
I've never seen a bed with that many slats. What are they made of?
I didn't make the bed slats. Came with the frame. They suck. ATM, their PINE. The supports I made work great to support the mattrace but that end needs more support. Going at lunch to get a 1x4, cut it and screw it in place. Worse come to worse, I can get some 1/4 or 1/2" plywood, cut it and screw it in place. Just cover the whole dang thing in plywood,. LOL The bed dang sure sleeps nice. PIllow top then firm under neath it
Handi's idea was the best plan
Use 2in angle iron heck with wood it wont hold up under pressure.
A sheet of plywood over the slats, no more worries.
Put it on the floor no more worries.
We had the mattrace on the floor at the other house. Took the frame and put it in storage when we were putting in the new carpet. Momma wanted a new bed and momma got one Loki got it all fixed now. Couple 1x4s at the end and a couple running from top to bottom. I put 2 screws in every cross slat. It ain't going no where now with all 56 screws in it lol
