A couple of more normal chenille samples I got (Rosy Red Try)

Pepop painted these heads and sent them to me so I could try some of these Rosy Red imitation tries. So what do you guys think?

One note, you can't see the Crystal in these and that is disappointing because it adds a nice bit of flash. Opinions please?

I like them, they look great.
As a person who comes from an aquarium hobby background and dealing with thousand of Rosy Reds as a feeder fish over the years, the #6 chenille resembles the body coloration to my eyes.

On a photographic note. The white background may be the source of the "Flash" not showing. The white gathers and reflects the light back at your camera and thus subdues the "flash" in the jig. Try a darker background that absorbs the incoming light. That way the flash on your camera will get the reflection of the sparkle and not the full reflection of the white background. If you find that a straight on shot produces too much sparkle, try off setting the camera just slightly to the jig.

Just my two cents, great looking jigs and keep them coming.

Thanks for the tip I will give that a shot! I have used a darker background a few time especially for some colors and sometimes it's better for sure.

Say being your familiar with them some I fished with some in Ark. 2 falls back and the ones we used were the less bright color ones. I have seen the picture on the internet and all the different tints they can have so I tried to scale the colors from pale to bright and not sure which way to go really. I feel pretty sure the ones used in Aquariums are more of the bright colors, is that right? Or is it just a hit and miss on that?

You are correct, for the aquarium hobby, they are mostly the light colored bright fish. Occasionally you will get a darker variation but not as often. A good resource is a Petsmart or Petco big box store. They sell goldfish and rosy reds as a feeder. I like to wonder around and just look at the fish, great way to see different variations. When I was scuba diving as a major hobby, I used to wonder through the Saltwater sections to educate myself on different species of fish I might see while diving. Besides watching fish is relaxing.

If you really wanted to be high speed with your studies, get a small aquarium and put you one handful of rosy reds in it. Them you can control the lighting, water temperture and water stain in order to see for yourself what they look like in different situations that you may fish.

Once your experiments are done, you have bait.

That probably would be fun, but not sure the wife is up for an aquarium. I have had one several times in my life and did enjoy that a good bit and have thought about getting another one, but the wife has no interest in me doing that. She would say I already have way too many hobbies, LOL!

I know the feeling, I change hobbies about every 7-10 years. I get into something, immerse myself and when I feel that I have learned most all there is to know, I move on. Aquariums was my 90's hobby.

I thought #6 was a winner Skip. Tie up those other 4 heads with the other 4 Chenille's and let's see the variation's. great tie's BTW.

Those are nice jigs and the #6 chenille does look close.

Number six is my pick also it looks Real close skip.

6 looks closest to me, and they look great, as usual!
