I've been tying some jigs to use in the clear water at Pickwick. What other color combos are good in clear water. I think we're gonna try long lining jigs up there. Attachment 137296

I have always had good luck on a light colors white pink, silver but it looks like those will work.
Chartreuse and black body!!!!!!
That is at Pickwick
Those won't catch anything. Just send em to me and I'll prove it.:Rofl:Rofl That white should do good and I'm thinking silver head gray body.
I was gonna say blue and white but you got that covered:biggrin
Might as well send them to me.....they will only work on Sardis lol
Clear water. Bright baits. Dark water. Dark baits.
Your right Don
1/8 and 1/4 oz heads, red, orange and pink is what I'm thinking.
I think I've got some silver body material. I'll play with it and see what I can come up with. I bet a chartreuse head, silver body and white tail would work.

well Scott, if I get to go this coming weekend, I will be able to tell you what colors don't work LOL I am putting up the cranks and gonna start back on jigs. Not sure if I will spider rig or long line, but probably long line since I am more use to it versus spider riggin.
Gray, silver and white?

Chart hair, Chart flash, White body, and white head with that black and orange eye. I did good with that combo a little later in the spring when the water cleared. I had been fishing black and chart and they were just sucking it in and then I changed to the white and chart and they started smashing it.
I have always been taught clear water, dark baits.Dark water, light baits. And it makes sense in clear water all fish are darker including bait fish. And vice versa.
I was told that about cranks from kent Driscoll. Guess it works on jigs as well. Know when it's early and or cloudy, I've put on black cranks n had very good luck
REVERSE THE BLUE AND WHITE . I HAVE LEARNED WITH CRAPPIE CLEAR , MUDDY ,DARK OR LIGHT THEY WILL MAKE A GEWBER OUT OF YOU . :biggrin PS PINK HEAD .
I'm not trying to put the pressure on u Scott,,,,, but,,,,,,,, everyone, including me, are depending on u for the success of our fall camp fishing...
If I was a fish, I'd eat any one of those in the pic above. Any other ideas is just icing on the cake..
Talk to Joel... ( Oldbigun) he guides on Pickwick
O, my,,,,, we n a world of hurt.... But I guarantee a good time... I'm ready NOW..
I think he uses quarter ounce hair jigs.....he has some that he makes and sells that are made just like his grandfather made them. PM me and I will give you his cell number. He has ads in the sponsor classifieds....you can see his jig colors there....probably a phone number there too.
pm shilo red he fishes there
Tie them all on and let the fish tell you what they want!I think I'm gonna try the river below the dam for smallies some!
years ago my dad caught a couple of 6 pounders at pickwick. Those are way cooler than any green carp.
Big tubes on 1/4 jig head. Rubber leg jigs with trailer and lots of guys fish a float and fly in winter. Your hair jigs under a teardrop float 8-12 ft down drifted around bluff banks
Get yourself a 1/2 to 3/4 oz purple and black skirt spinnerbait with the biggest black colorado blade you can find. Start at daybreak on the point to the right of the Pickwick Landing Marina entrance and work down the swimming areas to the riprap and down the riprap toward the dam. Repeat at dusk and you will see some brown fish. If you can find some big shiners at the local bait shop, drifting below the dam is always fun but wrong time of year to see many smallies.
Top 4 colors on Pickwick of my choice! I pull 2 1/4 oz jigs!
