My favorite time of year as well, thanks for sharing.
In 1965, my Mom and Dad and I spent the fall working on a 3 acre plot of land above the Elk river near Winchester, Tennessee. We were preparing the lot to build and planted a thousand pine saplings. There was an old concrete block spit on the place, remnants of a previous homestead. We used this for fires. my Mom would bring chili that she had made at home, and heat it up on this spit. The wood smoke had a way of flavoring this chili, and I have fond memories of this time with
My Mom and Dad, who both left me just a few years later. There's a lake there now, the spit is gone, the house has passed hands several times and is only a memory now. But, this is the time of year I love and your blog reminded me of that. Thanks a lot.
I cannot wait until fall. That picture gives me a pretty warm feeling along with your post...but since I live in Texas, I will have to wait a tad bit longer than you guys.

My wife must be feeling it too - she went today and picked up some fall flowers for planting and a few new fall decorations.
