Looks good.
What is holding the black pipe from falling out? I see some that don't come out the other side.
Cut the holes a bit larger in the white pipe and slide the boo through it when you are ready to drop them.
May need a long screw going into the white pipe to keep them from falling out.
Agree with adding the stainless steel screws to hold the `branches` on...
I though I read somewhere, as being a beginner I can not speak from experience, that the color white was not such a good color to choose. So if this is true you could tape it up or wrap it with old rags (not white) or something. ... They look great. As structure seems to be the key maybe on the black hdpe you could drill some holes and glue straws in them for thicker cover for the bait fish. Just a though...
The denser the cover the more prey fish it will hold. Everything else being equal, cover with prey will hold more fish...
Exactly... I would think you put down these mats to draw bait fish by providing shelter for them and not shade for crappie. So you need to design them with Baitfish in mind. How can you best draw them to the mat. Once you figure that out and the bait fish move in the Crappie and other predators will follow. If your putting these into secret your secret spot you will also need to think about the lake your putting these in. IF the lake has lots of cover you mat will have to compete with that cover. If you put these in a lake with little to no cover then your mats don't need to be as elaborate. Just my thinking here. Build it Right and they will come... as a last though I would place them in deeper water were you have distance 4-10 feet over the top of the highest point of the mat. Then PM me on their location. :fish
Check out my version in my post "starting small" with nothing bought except the concrete Haven't fished it much but it held fish when I did.
