Rapala blades fit in the old blue American angler. Guy gave me one a few months ago and blades are not any good. Was cleaning fish with it and buddy says try these blades. I put the rapala blades in and they fit perfectly. Think they sell them separately at walmart too.
I have a set in mine. They work ok but did have to spring each blade from out side into the middle to close up the clearance between them.

Is that for the old blue American angler or the newer grey version? I have a few of the grey versions but the blades are not the same as the older blue version. The rapala blades fit it like a glove though.
BD mine is so old it's Black. Those blades look the same except my original ones had red plastic on them. Might also call Grizzly Jig. The quit selling the knife but might still have some blades. They used to have the regular blades and the shark blades in last years catalog. I'm going to order a set from Sportsmans and see.
Lots of the blades are interchangeable. I bought some new "shark blades". They aren't the same as the old ones. They have a gap between them that lets meat clog the blades. Bought a Bubba blade...it sucks too...Well, not really, it's a good knife but still just a regular knife. Not as fast or clean as my old AA electric. Have been sharpening my old blades and the old blue knife is still going strong. Will die someday and then...don't know. I found that the new American Angler has a "pro series knife" it's expensive but I may have to give it a try.

They don't have them, I've looked everywhere. Even sent an email to AA and chewed them out about the re-design. Told them if they had any old stock, I would buy all they had.Quote:

That is expensive but if it last anything like my old one it would be well worth the money. It would out last me for sure. I don't clean as many fish in a year as you do in a month but this one has been a good one. Yeah those blade even after I adjusted them you have to take them out and clean between them. You might take ole blue apart and put just a touch of wheel bearing grease on the gears.
Have any of you tried the B&D Carving knives as filet knives? I am probably close to 15 years in with mine and going strong. The biggest hurdle I've encountered was finding replacement blades and figuring out how to sharpen them myself, other than that the thing is pretty much indestructible.

I don't know if the new ones are as good, also the blade on the new ones has a little 90 degree angle right where it comes out, mine doesnn't have that.
