Skip did help me out a lot when I started tying. It's a great thing when a tier of Skip's stature helps a newbie by telling him secrets and techniques that others would keep to themselves. And I thank you Skip. We don't tie jigs to out-do the next tier or to make more money than him, we tie because we love the hobby. Promoting the hobby is part of it.
As far as using rabbit as tail material, it has as much, if not more, movement in the water than anything I've used. Also, after getting wet and drying out several times, it won't get brittle and break off as marabou will do. I rarely use anything other than rabbit now. I use the Magnum Rabbit Zonkers so I get more hair in a 1/4 inch piece of leather.
