Sunrise is at 6:43, those 6:00 start times won't work unless the thought process is to meet at 6:00 and by the time everyone is done chatting it will be closer to sunrise when they get to the ramp. A 7:00 start time makes more sense.
I thought 6 would be great for chatting and getting to the lake,:fish go to cahoon/Meade and see if there ain't anyone there by 6 Saturday:twocents If its 7 it will probably be 730 before anyone launches, that's 47 minutes of prime morning bite we would be missing.:banghead
Wish i could hit it with you guys!! Sounds like the bite is pretty good right now.
I agree with you Bennett. If meet time is 0600, by the time everybody meets and greets and you get to your lake of choice it will be "legal" sunrise. My $.02, however, I may not even get to fish. Wife just out of hospital and don't know how she will be doing by then.
Mike
6 hours fishing is plenty for me!
I agree with Perc about the start time. I like to be on the water at the first legal opportunity this time of the year. I voted for 6-3, but I would be willing to concede the finish time to keep the start time at sunrise (or earlier).
We need to clarify what exactly a start time means. In past bashes everyone is so anxious to go fishing that most will leave before the official bash start time. (which I have no problem with) i.e. Buggs Bash start time of 7:00, most are in the parking lot chatting and leave to go fishing by 6:45. I think that the bash start time should be the time that you are launching your boat and that if you are participating in the bash you should be at the meeting site at least 30 minutes before start time. If someone is running late we need to have a contact person that they can notify. Having a 6:00 start time really just takes an hour of fishing away from the bash since you will not have a line in the water until nearly 7:00 with the late sunrise.
Sorry I should have said meet/weigh in time. It doesn't matter to me. I just don't want it to be 7 and someone show up at the meeting spot at 6:55 and miss the buy in. I figured meet at 6 talk, write all the participants down/collect then be back on the road heading to the lake around 630.
I didn't vote on the date nor time. I'm driving from Franklin, I know some of you drive a lot further. I hope all can attend.
im good with meeting at 6 and being on the water by 6:30... has anyone thought more about everyone potentially fishing the same lake? or does everyone still want to go to whatever lake they choose?
Inlovewithfishing, what's your first name? Your welcome to follow me. I can not guarantee you whoppers but ill put ya on some fish.
I prefer choose your own lake.
Wow, is that invitation open to anyone? I like that idea!
Inlovewithsurfin is the newest and most unfamiliar one to the Suffolk lakes, Kevin I think we should all follow you, after those hoss slabs you landed at the bass tourney last spring. ;)
And hey I said I would put him on fish, never said I was giving up the ghost. And I am giving up ONLY spots I have found and learned myself. I had a lot of help from many members on this site when I was fresh... JimB, UTR, Tap, Hogchoker, shellquacker, hope I'm not forgetting anyone. Anyways just paying it forward.
Would be cool to fish with you all but I'm to far away always enjoy seeing the catches tho... Hope you all have a lot of fun and catch a bunch!
agreed about that slab kevin caught!...
everyone on this site has ben very helpful to me and i greatly appreciate it! looking forward to fishing with you guys!
is this a one lake or choose a lake bash?
I was wondering who you were Kevin. Now I can put your name to a face. Hope to see ya at the bash.
Dang, I just realized today that this bash is on opening day for the NFL. I will have to pass as I will be watching the mighty Steelers begin their quest for #7. Say it with me, HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!
Ahhh that's a bad excuse tap, ya ain't gonna miss the outcome, the score and hi lights will be on the news sports wrap up. Ain't like your gonna change the game by watching...
I havn't fished suffolk lakes for crappie ,recon I need to up date navionics, thanks for reply Tap
Any lake.... Portsmouth or Norfolk owned...
thanks for info
If it's the top 3 crappie I would not be surprised if 3lbs win.
FYI, my boat is back in the shop - busted trolling motor cable. I'm sure it will be done by Sunday, I just don't know if I can get off work in time to pick it up for the weekend. Still hoping to be there Sunday.

OK only 6 people voted does that mean only 6 will show up" who is prefishing? I have never been to Mead and am thinking tomorrow. The ramp looks intimidating is it invisible like the cahoon ramp.
No problems launching at either cahoon or mead, no prefish for me I'm winging it
