I just traded boats and the new model has a LOwrance-hds-5 on the console. I have been a hummingbird man all my life and this thing is just greek to me. And yes I've heard the term just play with it and I am still lost. Does there exist anywhere a you-tube or disk you can buy to learn this stuff(for dummies) Thanks and my second question is there anyway to transfer my GPS waypoint locations from one model to the other?

If you still can't figure it all out .... you could always take it off the boat & see if you could make a sale or trade for a comparable HB unit, over on the Personal Classifieds Forum !! (just sayin' !! )

fishing maps Kansas,Lowrance dvd,gps fishing maps,hunting fishing maps, hunting Kansas Sells dvd for operation of hds units.
You can transfer your waypoints but you will have to convert them from HB's format to Lowrance's which is a .usr file. This site can do that for you. GPSBabel: convert, upload, download data from GPS and Map programs
thanks everyone. There are things I like about the HDS5 but I guess I'm old fashion. I'm still using a flip cell phone.

Flip phones are great. I wish mine had bigger buttons. I used mine many years that the numbers on the key pads are rubbed off. I get a lot of upgrade offers but none with big buttons.
