:hesaid if it is real that thing is a true freek of nature.
I think the biggest one ive ever seen might have been a little over 4 foot that think is a freak of nature
I've seen one MAYBE 5 feet surveying in the swamps. Sucker was as big around as my lower leg
Banded Water snake maybe, Biggest cottonmouth I ever saw was about 3.5 feet long and that was a monster.

Have to say that I disagree with the guy quoted in the article. I've had them come off the bank and try to get in the boat with me. I'll leave other snakes alone but every cottonmouth I encounter, I'll kill it if I get a chance.
Article says:
He hates this one got killed, and has advice for anyone who encounters one in the future.
"They don't want nothing to do with you, so leave them alone. They got a right to live too," he explained.
All of those suckers are aggressive. I hate them. They try and get in the boat with me all the dang time. Next time y'all hear a shot on the lake it was prob me. I am carrying my shotgun for now on. Kill them all.
Wouldn't call it aggressive but MEAN
I carry a machete in the boat for those things.
Two species of snake live in Arkansas. If it has rattles it's a rattlesnake. If it doesn't have rattles it's a cobra.
They should put it on all of the Welcome to Florida Signs.
"Welcome to Florida! The only thing bigger than our non-native snakes is out native ones!"
I respect them with a .45.
Here's a good article on the Florida cottonmouth.... I call shenanigans!

I need to post a pic of the 25 lb crappie I caught.... The right camera angle can make anything look big
The biggest I saw was at the outflow at Butla. I was hopping rocks fighting a big flathead & I stepped over him I don't know how many times thinking he was a dead gar before I noticed the scale pattern. Don't know how long he was but I swear he was as big around as my leg. Had a head on him the size of the palm of my hand.
I have found several in my boat while spider rigging on the Louisiana side of eagle lake. Guess I better turn around more often over there.
Im with Mo on this one, I dont know if its real or fake but ifn I stumbles across that thing in the woods I would definately be goin home for a clean change of clothes!
Hahaha, I probably mis-quoted by saying several. It has happened twice over there. The snakes are bad on that side of Eagle during the spring. My luck they were both cottonmouths and they both got a good ole southern fried long handled wooden paddle beat down. I don't mind snakes when I know they are there, but like spiders, its the ones that sneak up on me that get to meet Jesus.
Yall a bunch of sissys.Scared of a little ole snake.I've never known anyone to die from a bite in our area.I grew frog gigging in the delta, playing in rice fields and if i tryed to kill everyone i've seen,i'd still be in that rice field.
Well all i can say is it is a good snake now . Dead .
Hey, don't let Mr. Greenjeans hear you threat to kill a snake in ARKANSAS! As strange as it seem, they are illegal to kill in the Natural State. It's an easy ticket for them and another notch on their belt to meet their quota! At any rate, for the record, I kill all that I can here and just don't talk about it...... If one gets one of my kids or grandkids..... that's another story. My brother got bit when we were picking muscadines as kids in the '60's when he was eight and we AIN'T FORGOT IT....he almost lost a foot over it....hey, it ain't a mosquito bite.....The desk jockey politicians in Little Rock don't have a clue!!!
Frog gigging? My Daddy told me only sissies speared frogs. We grabbed them suckers with our hands. Take a running start with the boat, run up on the bank, and grab the sucker before the boat squashed him. Had to get your hand in and out quick, or the boat would squash your hand, too!!!
I was bit by a moccasin on the hand when I was 12, my hand swelled up like a balloon! I reached for a fish I had up against an overgrown riverbank. Never saw him before he hit me. Don't think I was ever close to dying.....but I remember feeling like I wish I would have.
The cotton mouth that struck, killed and ate that rattlesnake that was posted on here was a hoss Why is it that when you have a freaky creature report, the photo is never clear!
Strmwalker, I would hate for one that size to fall in the boat. But I take him over a hungry gator!
I heard that !!! them hungry gators can do some damage !!! I did see 2 guys give up a nice ranger bass boat 1 day on Santee when a snake that size dropped in their boat , the best part was when the snake got back in the water , you would have swore they was Jesus cause they was walking on water to get back in the boat for sure !!!:Rofl
Its illegal in Mississippi. Too. Several years ago a city if Shelby employee was clearing drains and killed one. He showed it around town and the Chinese restaurant bought or for a dollar.
Well the MDWFP heard and the officer caught the man cleaning it preparing to sell it in "fried rice". Cost the city employee over 1000 in fines and the restaurant owner about 3600. I had friends call me that saw this story on CNN

For clarification I'm not scared of a snake that I CAN SEE... If it surprises me tho, I'm gonna need a whole roll of blue paper towels and some fresh fruit of the looms.
There are two kinds of snakes and only two kinds. Those that are dead and those that should be dead. :biggrin
