I voted for sundays. This way I know I can make it.
Sundays for me as well
Hey I went with the crowd, so excited about this. Just nobody say the hurricane word!!! I would really perfer sooner! Sept 1-7 is peak storm season.
I'm new to the concept, what all goes on at these bashes?
Is it just a mini tourneyment orjust like a "hi I'm Danny" and your off to your own devices?
Meet at BP/famous tonys parking lot, on 460.. at 6 am $5 per person biggest three crappie takes the pot. Any Norfolk or Portsmouth owned Suffolk lake. Weigh in at noon? Same spot. Sound good ? any suggestions?
It is both a small tourney and get together. Great time to meet the guys on the board and for veteran members to meet the newbies. if You can make it, don't miss out. There will be a big one in Jan or Feb at NWR. I wish I could make this one. probably be picking corn.CF
Remember that sunrise is getting later and on the leading date of Sept. 8 is not until 6:43. Folks might find a locked gate if they leave the gas station just after 6:00. And to be honest, I can't see driving out to Suffolk to only fish until noon. Way too early for me. With a 6:43 sunrise, by the time you got your boat on the water and started fishing it would be around 7:00, then you would have to quit around 11:30 to be back to the gas station by 12:00 leaving you only 4.5 hours on the water.
Perhaps once you settle on a date you can have a poll for the start and stop times.
This time of year the weigh in will be pretty close.. Probably 3.5-4 lbs for 3 fish, unless someone snags a 2 lber, that would be cool!
I'm thinking the weigh in should be alittle later... Being travel time and launch time cutting into fishing time... Does 2 pm sound better to all? I know tap is gonna say 5 lol
I also voted for a Sunday. I would like to make this one. I also agree that noon is too early. I would vote for 1400, but later can also be fine.
BP/famous tonys parking lot, on 460 AAAh little more detail, what is this near? the turn off on girl scout rd area? and if sunrise is 6:43 perhaps a 7 is a more realistic time I am still 40+ min out.
Biggest 3- I assume dead or alive? Since we have left the lake we were fishing and may not have a live well. 2pm sounds good as we must leave fishing, load and drive! May feel bad showing up with 3 - 9" fish but then maybe the skunk could get everyone else!
Could end up like the BM bash and everybody went home early and nobody was left by 3. I ran out of drinks and it was bloody hot so I split at 1.
Dead or alive, it doesn't matter. I put my crappie on ice as soon as I catch them.
Earlier the better for me. It takes me less than 40 minutes from Virginia Beach. By the time everybody chews the fat we probably won't be on the water much before 30-45 minutes after we meet anyway.
Mike
so where is this meeting place at??? lol... and which lake is everyone planning on fishing!? or is that gonna be a secret??? :biggrin
Ill probably fish Meade or cahoon. Get off 58 at 460 heading towards Petersburg/Richmond it's about an 1/4 mile up the road on the right.
Tonys Diner is a great central location. Its the new truck stop on the right hand side of 460 as you get off 58. Great coffee and Expensive sammiches lol.
whew TP, you are tough. Expensive but not bad food.
I bet biggest fish comes out of Western Branch!
I bet the person that catches the biggest fish does not catch very many.
I have never fished Mead or Prince maybe if weekends look good I may get in one of them. I have heard the lone star lakes give up some big ones also!
hey Texas your ever finish that great map?
I think we should draw at the meeting on which lake to fish. Makes it fair for everyone. Plus that way we can talk with others on that lake.
i like that idea jim.b.... the only lakes i have ever fished is meade and cahoon.... it would be nice to fish in the same lake as everyone else and i dont care which lake it is!
I'm still working on all 6 of them and the NW river. It really takes a long time to cover every bit of water on each lake/river. Some are a little more complete than others. I usually spend a couple of hours mapping every time I fish (when I'm done fishing).
Mike
I could go either way but prefer the idea of picking your own lake. 5 choices and they are all so close to each other and to be honest, I am sure we all have our honey holes that we don't want others to know about.
I voted for sat, I go to church on Sunday
Poll ends tonight at 11pm I will throw a poll up for start/stop times.
Looks like itll be Sunday sept 8!
Where are we meeting?
Dean
Tony's famous diner/gas station right off 58 on 460 heading towards Windsor it's on your right. 7-1 Sunday, any ports or Norfolk lake.
