The jigs made by litewirehooker are the best I've personally ever used and that includes any made or sold by the major retailers. They are very well made and sharp and the paint won't come off like some I've used. You can't go wrong by buying these jigs.
Litewire Hooks Here's the link Frog. Good fishing!
X2....Litewirehooker makes jig heads with lightwire hooks plus jig heads that aren't lightwire hooks. Either way, he makes a quality product. Plus he has round heads, tri-heads and Pony's (which are jig heads with a spinning blade on them) in an assortment of sizes and colors at a very reasonable price. Can't go wrong using his product. It's the only jig head I fish with no matter what lake I am on...Just my :twocents
(Wonder if that will get me some freebies???:Rofl:Rofl:Rofl)
I use mostly Big Bite heads from Bass Pro and Roadrunners. I gotta work on the Litewirehooks, I cant get my grubs on em without bending them all to heck. Know lots love em but they give me fits. Not saying they are bad just aint got the finesse tactic of threading my grubs on yet I reckon. But they are needle sharp.
Southern pro. Like i said, i know people love em but they are giving me fits.
If they are soft plastic I don't know how you are bending the hook putting the grub on there. probably need to just have an experienced panfisherman show you how.
Litewire jigs when your fishing a real hangy area and regular, stronger jighead when you don't have to worry about hang ups. No sense and risking a fish bending off unless you have to.......there is a place for both styles. The litewire jigs can be used all the time if you prefer though, you may go 3 or 4 trips without bending a fish off but the one time that you do will make you sick. I bent off a fish that I know weighed over 2.5lbs at Crescent last year right at the boat, I thought I was going to vomit. No worse feeling than losing a fish at the boat, looking at the jigheads and seeing your hook bent almost completely straight
He must not have seen all your posts, if your an inexperienced pan fisherman I think we all are..........you may just have a special condition when it comes to litewire hooks and southern pro hot grubs, lol
Thats exactly what i said. In my driveway prepping no problem, on the water in a hot bite replacing a grub i get pretty aggravated with em. I dont worry about posts like that, especially if they dont know Southern Pro.
Gold Sickle hooks are light enough wire for me. I get back enough of them from hang ups that I don't mind the few I loose to a stump. I don't understand what makes the lightwire hooks give when they do on a fish. I have caught some 3 lbs catfish on them, and then have a 1.75 lbs crappie bend it out at the boat during a tournament at AL River. Both on different new lightwire hooks. I just feel better with the Gold Sickles. The Black Chrome sickles seem a lot stronger and don't give as much. The red ones are just gold ones with a plating or chemical treatment that will scratch off and show a gold hook. Have used some bronze other brand hooks that seemed to want to rust real easy. All comes down to what you try and what you like after you try. Pretty much why I started pouring and painting my own to get exactly what I wanted. Those sickles are sharp too. Seems I can't make it a day fishing without bleeding.
Yes sir them sickles are great hooks. Had a fellow local here s few years backnmake me some but he closed up shop. Then found them big bites and almost as good and razor sharp too.
Getting back to the topic, Lightwirehooker also makes jig heads with sickle hooks and many other kinds of hooks, but the litewire hook just happens to be his most popular hook. For the money on any kind of hook, it's hard to beat the quality, price or service on any of his jig heads.
I never said he did not have a quality head, in fact they are high quality and coated with care. Just dont get along with the wire hooks.
Last year at Talquin we got into some stripers in the channel......Since we decided to try to catch several, we changed to red sickle hooks and boated 6 stripers in a hurry. I agree on the hooks........if there is trash, stumps, logs, (Lake Talquin), you can't beat the litewirehooks. Every hooks has a purpose....that's why they make so many different sizes and shapes, but many people perfer the litewirehooks . ..........after all........... you can't catch a fish when you are tieing on another hook.
I use Ron's Zip Jigs mostly. They work well trolling or spider rigging. Lots of colors available. Looks like you can buy them on their web site now. www.ronszipjigs.com
