No, but there was a bike rally this weekend.
I don't know what has happened, ecologically, but none of the Miss River fed lakes have been very productive for the last several years. Could it be the 2011 flood? I'm not the only one to observe this phenom. Folks who fish more different Oxbows & more often than I have observed it also. I'v been fishing the River fed Oxbows for 60 years and never seen it this slow for sport (bass, crappie, bream) fish. Could it be the Gars, Asian Carp? Anybody have a link to any recent "Fish Inventory" data? I'd like to compile a comparasion chart for the last 15 years.
Anybody remember Moon Lake back in the 1950's? There were trolling boats galore!! Some held as many as 20 people. You would pay for a spot on a boat & they'd take you out!! Or the "Pay to Fish" Piers? Then the Lake died, nothing!! I hear it's come back a little tho..
Looking for thoughts, inputs, theroies, explanations here, Please!!!
Are you as healthy as you once were? Neither are the oxbows. Eutrification and sucession have matured them.
U got that right!
It took me 4 1/2 hours to drive to the south end of Tunica saturday, usual a 35 minute trip. The Battles area area looked like camper city. The day park was full. Very few were at the cut off. I wore my MSGO cap and was asked where was the ammo. There were bikes from all across the US, met some good people. Had dinner at Shirley's house and had a 6 hour drive home.
All us locals laid low or left town! Wonder if they made any $$? I'll bet we coulda sold some fresh fried Asian Carp & called it Buffalo!
went out on the cutoff sat. total of 7 made the cooler, hung 15 or so gar and seen tons of carp. fished pretty much all day besides a hr. rain delay at lunch. couldn't put another fish on the screen but they musta been trashfish or just not hungry !!
A friend went to tunica co last week ,no crappie but they caught so many white bass they couldn't keep up with em.They brought a few home, they were in the runout throwing lil georges.
Good! Fish is fish!
My brother fishes the Delta lakes around Vicksburg and said it's the worst he has ever seen.
