Kosmo, you are burning way too much midnight oil...........:Rofl:Rofl You need a nap...
just got back from the doc.
severe pain in wrist, rt elbow, index finger,
After several minutes of detectivesque discussion, he said I have a severe case digititus, caused by constantly pushing buttons on the Humminbird 998c.
prescribed me to take a week off and get a fish finder that doesn't require constant noodling.
Then he handed me a coupon for a Lowrance hds 9 !
FEELING MUCH BETTER NOW!
but the nightmares go on and on ,
Don't worry they'll go away in time, nothing on the water therapy won't fix.
this is funny. ......but Im wondering now that the comment about not having to change setting means that your satisfied withthe results your getting with the touch? Or maybe that's all that unit will do? Lets be honest here humminbird Di from si sucks but one would think that the touch with that almost one foot long transducer could do better.whats going on with your si imaging also, your post kind of makes me think that your happy with it.so far your pictures are less than desired or at least ill say that Im disappointed..Im. Used to better equally pictures that i get from my humminbirds..maybe that point 1 with the update will actually work and it might help you some.so far. i read some other post were some people airnt happy with the lss2.keep posting pictures they make my humminbird pictures look better:Rofl
You no my humminbird Di pictures suck, but still they look better that those touch Di pictures this is a picture from my rotated transducer its not very good but still you would think that great old big transducer on that touch would blow this out off the water but that's not the case:Rofl. http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps9f9490c3.png http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psa00e1728.png
I bet that y'all didn't no that lowance has 360 also..or even that lowance could take stationary imaging.this is not true or sortof. With a little toy boat and some imagination yes you to can have 360. now I've got to warn you if you do this it will void your warranty. You could loose your unit and toy boat if the wind gets up. lowance will not replace it just put a unit in toy boat using lowance wifi spin the boat in circles there you have it lowance 360:Rofl:Rofl:Rofl here's some humminbird tuning pictures:Rofl http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps2bb3d7e3.png http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps230433f9.pngdon't worry about that shallow water one.i no lowance users units don't work to well that shallow..i guess y'all don't fish shallow water:Rofl http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps3ec9958b.png
Hey Kozmo, this 360 pictures stuff kinda remind me of them old 78 records my wife sold at the yard sale.
There's going to be a yard sale down the road this weekend. There's and old Jon boat there that i can buy cheap.i might get one of those touch units and put on it. Maybe i can tune it to get some better shots than what I've seen posted:Rofl:Rofl http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psa71ff6d6.png http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psb218b9d5.png shoot ill proberlly burn a hole through the bottom of the lake with that thing:Rofl
Kozmo, you got talent. Your images remind me of this talent.:dono

i like the picture
http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psbee023d5.jpg but don't you think it better represents the lss2 transducer. WOW this thing is huge.proberly why the Di is so degraded from what the lss1 could do.the water gets stail before it has time to travel all that ways down it.WOW:Rofl:Rofl:Rofl http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psd4dbc468.jpg
I think I'll put a LSS 2 on the other side of my boat and use them for hydrofoils...

All I have is 2d now. I ain't got nothing else left. Time to revisit the image shops if I ever get my boat delivered.
Ima gonna wait and see what comes out at Xmas. Hope I can still remember how to use the 2d as a stand along.
I like me hds,
size matters,
my 998 di not actually have a useable di, so the one I have now is actually useful
I can use either one of them fairly effectively. Not much difference IMO. I am still waiting on a sponsor. Only problem I have is my butt don't fit in those tiny standup bootie seats on those bass boats.
brettw, you seem to be on a role here with false information.here's a picture of my 597hd/Di transducer that I've also used hooked to my 998.the quality of Di that i get compared to what you have shone using that elephant sized transducer shows different. that big old thing you've got doesn't even have 2d built in.:Rofl maybe there's something wrong with your touch unit? http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps507f55d7.jpglets be honest here if Im getting pictures like this from this little transducer then you got ripped off. http://i826.p:Roflhotobucket.com/alb...ps32b92f2d.png http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps32b92f2d.pnghere's a nother picture you can use to tune your touch unit with:Rofl you no the 597hd/is only $550 it doesn't have si but hay your touch hasn't shone to have much he si ether http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...2-02121304.jpg:Rofl you do remember when lowance introduced the lss2 and they advertised more range.well that never happened now did it:Rofl
Kos, Kos, Kos .... he's happy with what he has, as I'm happy with what I have ... just let it go, dude. You are :deadhorse
... cp :kewl
perhaps,
what else does the 597 do ? si ? 2d? GPS? log video? touch screen? dental floss dispenser?
don't tell me you have a one trick pony !
ps go back and look at my images, you'll see the superior clarity that you so desperately seek !
2d thought, don't go back, just be happy with what you got, lol
and say this over and over,
" I love my 597, I love my 597............."
now the can is empty
To say the 998 doesn't have a usable DI, is a grand exaggeration if there ever was one. There have been excellent pictures displayed here of H/B product DI images. If you had a problem getting good images, you should have spent more time learning to use the unit. I've said it before, I'd give Lowrance a slight advantage on crispness of images on the screen, but an H/B unit is much more user friendly. Pretty much plug and play, no extensive networks or power sources for accessories needed. no fumbling through confusing menus etc. Anyhoo, I want to catch fish not take pretty sonar pictures.
it has it, it's just not good enough
As justin said,"All of this debate is subjective and in the end the only opinion that matters is the one of the person laying out the cash."
I think Canepole probably has the most experience with a multitude of units, and here's his comment. "I can use either one of them fairly effectively. Not much difference IMO. "
I've only had my 998 out once, and didn't mess with any settings as far as contrast or sensitivity, and here's a couple pictures. Can't say that I see any difference in quality or sharpness comparing to Shane's pictures.Attachment 132987Attachment 132988Attachment 132989
