4:01 a.m............you are up at at 'em pretty early. I would need some more coffee to get up that early. Those look good. I am thinking a light touch with fingernail polish perhaps?????? Then using a Q-tip to buff it off a bit and soften the look.
Nice buddy!!!!!!!!!! Only thing I can think of is you poured half one color let it get fairly firm then poured the other but that don't explain the black bands!!!!!!!LOL
Jumping Jacks Icon I know - I know !!!! He is using magic :ThumbsUp LOL they look great :)
The baits were pour or shot with a base color that was clear or Chart all other color was put on later including the shine . A type of Q tip was involved and the word magic was involved .
Ship woke up to go pee so I took the pic and posted then . I keep a cup of coffee at my bed side too helps me sleep LOL
Oh Yea the jig head color is mixed into the powder same color used on the baits .
Bob that is a D Gill from CCM . Now Do-It custom baits . Gonna let this go answered till Friday. Then I'll tell how to do the process .
Well it's Friday and I promised to tell how those colors came to be .
But before I do I'd like to say , Gentlemen when you go to the check out armed with frilly lace for scales , nail polish and arts and crafts tidbits The looks you get are about to be worse because now you have to add EYE SHADOW . YES THAT'S what I said EYE SHADOW . The colors you see came from Maybeline and Cover Girl applied with the provided applicator And then dipped in a clear Plastic polymer from Lure Craft . The eye shadow stays where its put and does not even leach into the clear .
Not to despair though .Hold your head high cause" We are men on a mission to go fish'in" .
Wow! Who'd a thunk it!? I was no where close to guessing that!
You would think that eyeshadow would wash off so I may have to give that a try what colors do they come in I would imagine there are tons to try out how did you find out about this.
Easy fellers, dangerous hanging around the makeup isle at Wal-Marts. I got caught in the finger nail polish isle and was approched by a couple of gals tellin'
me what colors I should use..........LOL
Well snake I was doing some investigation on color additives . I found that the same types of colorants were used in numerous applications from paints to floor tiles . I also looked at organic colorants . That is when I read about these same types of additives were also use in make up and often contain bat guana . That when i said holly Bat Sh1+ I can use it on lures since the product is design to stay where its put and is water resistant . I went to the local flea market where there is a big tub full of the stuff for .25 to a dollar per item got ten dollars worth . Took just about and I had the answer to how to make a TRULY custom bait . The thing I hate worst is dipping a bait in hot clear plastic . It not only changes the shape of the bait but is a pain in the rump . Since I have already been using an airbrush to paint swim baits I was familiar with the clear plastic paint Knowing already that dipping in hot plastic did not run eyeshadow every where I figured the plastic paint would work and hold the eyes on too . Last experiment was to test it in powder paint . Which also worked . This is handy to know if you happen to just want to tint your powder without buying a whole jar . I may be nuttier than a Payday but every now and then I can come up with something fun .
well I guess I'm going to have to go get some eyeshadow I hope my wife does not catch me or one of my neighbors in the store when I'm buying it.
That pondhopper is sure one smart fisherman.. Sure makes some really neat looking baits too...
Thanks a million guys for the kind words .
Snake take her with you cause she will know more about how to blend the colors .
And I'm not so smart , Its I have this curiosity that is like a hungry wolf . No matter how much I feed it , It just keeps coming around .
Next project is how to do swirls or laminates without special tools . OH BOY that is gonna be a real test .
Look I'm new to the jig molds I have to start going with my wife to the make up counter. what is crappie fishing coming to. I know you have to do what you have to do.
While your at the dollar store check out the L.A. nail polish colors . I truly believe they have caught onto us using it for jig paint . It's out now in Chart . yellow chart . Blaze orange . Purple /silver glitter . All in florecent colors . Now tell me they don't know HMMMM !
Lure Craft would be able to give you all the info . I need a pint of it but I bet I will have to order a gallon . Keep all those paints in a sealed box , Put a tight lid on them even if you have to drop the metal can inside a big mouth quart jar . They evaporate easy . Keeping them 38 degrees and sealed will extend the shelf life dramatically .
