Arkansas crappie fishemen need to step it up I am an ex Louisiana boy who now lives in Arkansas and have been here for ten years I live on lake Erling and fish in both Arkansas and Louisiana but I check the Louisiana board first every time I log on to the crappie .com website this should not be those Louisiana Boys can not out fish us but it seems that they can out talk us with not to much trouble Razorbacks stand up put more entries on crappie .com.

Man I dont know why there is no more activity on the Arkansas board. Seem to have some folks that sign on and make a few post then you dont hear from them again. I am on here just about every day but dont post much if I dont know much. I do wish more would join Crappie.com and join in on the post. Sure would make the site much better.
I couldn't agree more. There have been some attempts to get some juice flowing with cooler weather and fall fishing but the threads don't seem to go anywhere. I'm fishing some almost every weekend either the Little Maumelle River or Lake Maumelle, but haven't found the crappie. Bream have been pretty good.
Gooch -- you'll appreciate this. You know what a bear Lake Maumelle can be when the wind comes up. Man, I was on the north side at the east end of the lake sunday...when the wind came up big time. White caps from hell. 'Twas a slow, long ride back to the marina in a 16 foot flat bottom.
I agree, slab. But, the AR board has never been a huge producer of activity. There is occassional bursts around peak crappie times (e.g. spring), but from what I have seen, the AR board just doesn't have the enthusiasm of some of the other boards. If you look on the main page at the number of posts and threads for each state, you will see that GA, LA, NC, SC, and VA are about the only state boards with loads of activity. Those boards have very dedicated members to that particular board, and most don't even check the main board. I don't see a way to turn the AR board around anytime soon, so just bear with it.
BTW, I hope you didn't end up going Friday afternoon, J. I went for a little while Sat. morning (about 2 1/2 hours) because the wind was supposed to be blowing out of the SW. Needless to say, the wind was blowing right up the pipe. I caught a few down around the 430 bridge. I learned a few new territories to try when the time gets right. The little maumelle creek channel doesn't join the main river channel until it gets on the other side of the bridge (the power plant side). The little maumelle creek runs between the first and second pillar (about 10-12' deep). The third and fourth pillars are in about 3-4' of water. Oh well, I'd better get off of here and do something a little more productive.
I have been a member of this sight for only a couple of months. But, I have noticed that the Arkansas board is checked on by quite a few out of staters. I am looking forward to actually meeting everone at the fall camp.
I agree we should be communicating more. But, I don't think it would be pratical to expect boys from Arkansas to yap as much as those from Louisiana. I have been fishing with them and working with them. They never shut up. (I would have put one of them smileys here. But, I don't know how.)

When Labill first got the Louisiana board started he checked with the North and South Carolina boards to see what they did. What seems to increase posts more than anything is for people to post pictures. And no, they don't all have to be crappie, I post several pictures of my saltwater outings. This is just a thought and it may be worth a try.
BTW, when is the Arkansas get together? I may try to make it up there if I get a chance.
Well got to go now, my arms are tired from all that swinging!:D

Well like the big boys say "dont sling it bring it". Man would love to have some of the cajun crew show for Fall Crappie Camp. Looks like the dates of the camp are Oct 26 thru Oct 31. Shrimp, Crab and Redfish will be welcome in the same oil with the crappie.Quote:

Well not from arkansas but fish it alot. When I signed on I ordered the patch and decal set. A little advertizing of the site. Wear the patch on my life jacket and the decal on my boat. But didn't get what I ordered. I got the patch and bimmer.info decal. I hit contact a couple of times but no reply.

Ceb, I saw you on campus walking to class the other day. It was strange seeing you in person and recognizing you from your pics. I was like, "Hey! That's ceb!" I was in a big, ugly state car, and we stopped for you in the x-walk. I work for UAMS-psychiatry over at ASH.
Anyways, hope to meet some of y'all some day. Maybe I can get out to crappie camp this time.

Fishing has been a little slow around here so NIMROD and I took Sunday morning and built brushpiles. We added to 3 brushpiles and built 4 new ones.
Everyone around here is getting ready for hunting season!
I'm ready for the Crappie to realize it's fall already. Still try'n to build brushpiles before the fall bite starts and hunting season for deer opens. I got some new plugs and went out on the lake Sabbandit. Hollar when you get time ,working on Praire Creek now.:D

They have moved shallower and they've been a bit more aggressive lately but running on the small side. We're hoping the biguns will show up soon.
Do any of you boys (and girls) put your .com alias on your boat or campsite at the crappie camp? I have been thinking this might be better than pulling up to another boat or camp and asking them who they are.

I have canebreaker on both sides at rear of boat. I have catfish1.com on the rear, was wanting a crappie.com decal but got something else instead.

We could mark our campsites and boats with some type of tape or ribbon like surveyors and deer hunters use so everyone one would at least know who's there for Crappie Camp.
Is anyone making up some shirts? If not, I understand because I'm sure that it was a pain in the arse this past spring. However, it would be a good way to "spot" other folks. No one is planning on making shirts that I know of. We will have a prize package again, which will contain some "Crappie Camp" shirts left over from the Spring Crappie Camp, Crappie.com hats, a couple of J&J Fish Habs and some assorted jigs, ect. I guess we'll give it to the person that travels the longest distance again.Quote:

Yeah, it's been pretty slow on here for awhile. I've been checking in and reading but not posting. Here in SE White County the fishing holes are mostly small and shallow, and I'm not good enough to find the crappie then. The Des Arc Bayou has came up some in the last couple of weeks with the rain, not enough to run but almost back to normal level. I've tried trotlining a couple of times lately, no catfish but a boatload of gar and grinnel. I have a bunch of LITTLE goldfish to small for trotlines, may take them in a day or two and try the crappie now. Good luck to everybody, maybe things will pick up with the cooler weather. grizzly
Fishing on lake Erling for me is terrible have been able to catch only 5 per trip last three trips but it could be worse these were decent fish and I am cathing them about 10 ft deep around structure still catching them on clear jig with metalflake fish have moved but I have not located them or maybe they just are not here will be bow hunting deer for a few days hope to have better fishing luck later in October gotta go .

As a rule we Arkies do seem to be more tight lipped in general and I am just as bad with the locals. We do need to share info more, and I'm talking about us regular guys. The guides don't need to be supplying all the info, heck that's how they make a living. In the spring my sucess came in drainage ditches after big rains using minnows, I am not a jig person. With the bayou I fish filling back up along with other places I will be fishing more and reporting my success or failure. I have a bunch of small goldfish 1-1/2 inches and am going to try them. Anybody else ever use them for crappie? grizzly
I would have to say I agree, the Arkansas board lacks activity...however, the limited activity is very beneficial and normally short and sweet but to the point. I am split between the Arkansas/Oklahoma state boards, I have been a member since springtime this year, and LOVE IT. I only post about one message every day or two, but often log on every day and read the posts, some are not in the area where I live so I feel my input (being a rookie and all) =) would not be taken very seriuosly....I know how to catch fish, just sometimes have trouble finding them on Beaver....when I find them it's usually a limit or two of slabs.....fun times, fish on!! Not having much luck when I get into AR for a fishing trip. 3 times this years and 4 fish. Lots of yellows and whites.
I fish with goldfish about 20 years ago. Fishing heavy cover, hanging up alot. I did catch a large crappie on the last one.
Out of habit I check the main board and neglect to check the AR board. I'll try to do better...
As for Arkies being tight lipped, I think you're right for the most part. I've lived in Arkansas since 1991 but still have the attitude of a Texan. And for those of you guys that don't know me -- I am a BIG BOY -- all Texans are, LOL, LOL.
Gooch, anybody, we definitely need to get some of our Louisiana cousins to come to the crappie camp and bring some shrimp and crabs. Forget the oil and lets have a boil.
The one thing I really want from the Fall Crappie Camp is more pictures. I was able to take a few in the spring and made a webpage out of them. This time, let's get more digital pics of the fish caught and of folks out on the water in their boats. Then I can make another page that should be much more interesting.
They have computers in Arkansas?

I grew up in Springdale but now live in Texas. Would like to tow my boat back up to Beaver sometime and go after crappie.
I am new to Crappie.com and I am tryin to do a lot of reading and tryin to learn all this. I have met Googh and CEB in person now and I think that is what is goin to take to make this AR group together.
I use what we call floatin yo-yo's. Just one thing I have never seen anyone talk about on here. Maybe not as much spot in it, but can help find them sometimes.

That is the great thing about this site. Sharing and learning. I have learned many things through this site, and they are all things to stick in my arsenal. The floatin yo-yo idea is a good 'un.
Any way to get together before Crappie Camp? Maybe learn who each other are and that way when we get down there we might be one spet a head of the game.

Now ya'll have got me feelln bad about myself. If your not family or my one good crappie buddy, you don't know where I catch my crappie. However, I'm always on crappie.com trying to see where ya'll are catching yours. Ceb was as generous as i've seen anyone be with crappie spots on the Little Maumelle and I was gratefull.
Alright, I've only been crappie fishing for a short time but....I limited out (me and dad) on nice white crappie for the first time about two weeks ago. They were hitting minnows, jigs, roadrunners, whatever. I've been back several times and each were profitable (with the exception of one 8pm-2am nightstalk). The lake is way down and you can see huge brush piles that won't be visible soon. However, there is a nice ramp and you can still launch a bass boat if you got it.
Anyway, thats my confession. I'll try to do better. See ya'll at camp!

I don't think so ceb. It's Conway's drinking water so i doubt it goes by another name. It's like lake maumelle but much smaller. The water is very clear and the crappie are as pretty as i've seen (tasty too). Actually, my best times were between 6:30am-10:00am.
I found the map for lake Brewer on the AGFC website. But, when I went to look at the Google map, it was labeled Cypress Creek Reservior on that map. Both maps showed the same shape of the shoreline.:confused:
