I used one for two years on a 115 Yamaha four stroke.....matter of fact I have one in the box that I would sell....Its a Troll-a-matic automatic trolling plate. PM me if interested
Hey g send me a number. What's pros and cons with it? Was thinking of a plate or using two 18 inch socks to slow big motor down
Works great....I liked it because it was automatic.....did not have a cable to pull when you got through trolling....Its spring loaded and all you got to do when you get through trolling is take off. Satdoc used one like this for years....I used one for two years.....my boat came unhooked from my truck in my yard and the boat hit my shop and damaged it....I bought a new one but never used it....I traded boats and got a Terrova to pull crankbaits with so I have a new trolling plate that I do not need. I will make you a deal on it....send me a PM.
Send me pm with number bud
I use the spring loaded one on a 115, gets me down to 1.7-2.0 depending on the wind. Without it I'd do around 2.5, that's with a 4blade prop also. Don't really notice it running WOT but around the ramp you lose some power in reverse and gotta goose it a little bit.
This is how it looked on my old boat and it worked great.I added kicker motor and never took it off the big one.Attachment 130459
Thanks guys for info. Anyone use drift socks to slow the big motor down?
I have thought about a 60in. one hooked to the bow eye, so it would be under the boat out of the way. Mostly going against the wind I just trim the motor up so the prop isn't in the water all the way, but make sure its still peeing. Going with the wind I use the trolling motor
I use the socks now when I have to use the big motor. Since my TM is still not working right, I ran the big motor yesterday. Used 2, 36" socks to get down to 1.7ish MPH. You can steer better with the socks than you can with the plate and they take up less room in your boat than buckets. I've tried all 3 ways and like the socks best
