I cant tell what it is?
They are 3oz and 4oz wt todd to pull off the front. They come in the noodle for storage with leaders ready to fish. My plans are to pull 4 rods and push 2 off the front. I thought this might keep the tangles down some what.
Ten4 . I pushed before I pulled. Good deal. With time you will learn to avoid the tangles. And how to UN tangle. Pushing is less trouble and you can turn around quicker and get back in the fish. I still like draggin. I'm addicted.
them look nice JW
I don't understand "pushing". You can't push a chain.

It is not a chain its a 2 or 3 oz weight with a barrel swivel on one end and a snap swivel on the other.tie your main line on the barrel end and put your crankbait on the snap swivel!!!!
This is a great idea. Going to the hardware and buying a length of small chain and cutting it into lengths weighing from 2 to 5 ounces. It should work well in a pinch.
Thanks.
Only kidding, but it would work, maybe real good, because you would get the noise of the chain rattling and it may add to the noise the crank makes while running.
That much weight is going to be WAY behind the boat (assuming it's moving and you're trolling). If that's pushing, I'm backwards.
OK, wait.
(I still don't get it)
In my mind pushing would be 3 poles off front of boat set with short line running fast enough to get the crankbait down.None of the crankbaits would be running passed the front of the boat this is my thinking of pushing crankbaits...think anything else would be pulling crankbaits...explain.
Never done this, but it seems to me that if you've got a 14' or 16' pole out in front of the boat, and as much weight as Meatgetter is saying to use, the line off the pole is gonna go almost straight down, depending on the speed of the boat and depth. A crankbait on the terminal end of the leader will be a little behind the weight, but still way out in front of the boat. At least that's the way I've got it pictured. Am I missing something here.......or is that anywhere close to how it's supposed to work? :scratchhead Chime in here, J. W., or Meatgetter, and help us out, man! :help
Short bus is on the way around to get most of us. Sit down and be quiet, when it shows up.
Slightly exaggerated, but...........Attachment 130556
Look up Miss. Power trolling . 8 oz.Wght. 5 jigs.1 ft. Apart. Kills crappie in hot water. I use 5 oz. To push cranks. 3 ft. Behind wght. Killer tech. Catches lots of fish!
OH. Pushing it with the BOAT!!
Duh
I can drive the short bus. I can. Honest.
Jw. Youve put up a post for every fish you caught! Give it a rest!
Ain't many Todd cause I hadn't been catching much lol
OK, if the diagram is true then what is in the cooler? And who is running the boat?
Sorry, I just wanted to get in on the confusion.rotfl
A few years ago I was instructed how to push cranks by my Lake Darbonne friend, ONEON. The technique works extremely well. It uses a 2 oz egg sinker held four feet above the crankbait by a large swivel. It puts the crank lowest in the water without any line or weights below it for distraction. The formula at 1.8 to 2.0 mph was simply 2:1. If you had ten feet of line out the crank would run five feet deep.....thirty feet of line out would run it fifteen feet deep. It is a very simple rigging which is what I like and works fantastic......I usually pull 'em but this is a great way to go if you need complete boat control to maneuver.
Good to see ya on the board Steve
Yep. Been missing you and David both! Good to see you back on here.
Hey, I'm still here, LOL! But thanks for the encouragement from both J.W. and Jerry! I have too many irons in the fire......just got back from a week of Galveston which was a pleasure trip to see family and relax with kids....didn't wet a hook....it really wore me out though, LOL! I'm still checking the boards every day even if I don't post and I know David is also. We are currently waiting on the big muddy to start dropping so we can get back into our river lakes and do some damage......river ain't cooperating too well and neither are the lakes outside the levee down here. We fished all day Saturday before last pulling cranks and pushing jigs on both Slackwater Harbour and Pothole at Grady Cutoff without catching a single Crappie.....was pretty discouraging. The Pothole was full of Gar and I think Slackwater has had a hex of some kind put on it, LOL. We've thought about hitting Sardis but that's a 3.5 hour drive for 15 fish (culling is difficult with cranks) and we just haven't had the time. Hopefully we will have some good tales to tell and pics to post in the near future.
The cooler has crappie in it and somebody had to draw the picture.......me...........the only thing missing is the water.
Culling isnt too bad as them smaller fish have a hard time getting that big ol bait in their mouth. Its worth the trip steve.
