Anybody fish Pearl River north of Lowhead Dam?

My brother got drawn for alligator tags in the northeast zone, so we plan to hunt north of Lowhead dam in the Pearl River. Looking for some info on locating a big one... Anybody got any good spots for gators up there? Thanks!

Catfished there 15-20 yrs. Ago at night below the dam and would have 25-30 swimming arround the dam . Should not have a problem findind one .

Awesome.. Sounds like they got a good crop of them up there... We struck out last year on the REZ but had a few attempts at some monsters... Hope to bag one this year..

Hey DG, I think I read one of your post on the bull about getting close. If not, sorry for the info. I have been chasing gators a few times and getting close is tough if they have been messed with. Play the wind and the current and position yourself to drift into casting distance. Most times they will let you motor by them if you don't slow down. They are used to that but if you slow down and put a sneak on them they will submerge and pop up a couple hundred yards away. I also don't like going strait at them. Try to run parallel and u will get a lot more cast at them than going strait on. Plus you got a lot bigger target. Good luck. I am jealous.

It's been a couple years since I fished that area but do remember seeing some big ones +/- 10 ft in an old slough 32.652086,-89.701395. It's kinda narrow getting into it & stumpy but I got all the way to the back. Saw several somehwat smaller ones where an old creek comes into the river also 32.64017,-89.71595.

Rooleyt, I'm not trying to mind your business, in fact I could care less about gator hunting but putting GPS coordinates on an open forum is not doing this guy any favors.
