Minnowman, Yes I have tried and tested the bait pump and I can honestly say that it is one of the few products that lives up to its billing.
I have used it side by side with my dad (who was not using it) and have caught several fish (4-5) to his one. Once he started using it, we were catching about even.

minnowman....I've been using one for quite a number of months, and it has paid for itself many times in good crappie. Give it a try, you'll like it. To order, go to the LA board and click on one of "Slab Hunter's" post and you will see a link at the bottom.
Dwyane, I really appreciate the information, sounds like an appealing attractor for fish, I would assume this might work equally well, on pumping bait into a spring laced treble hook for some good channel catfish, hmmm. I would say I am going to have to buy this product, thanks.

Where in LA do you live? Do you ever fish Toledo bend, I went in January of '04 and slaughtered the largemouth right by the bridge that seperates fresh water from the salt water I think, my roommate at the time was Cajun to the bone and his dad works the COE down there, we got PRIME guided fishing, I learned to "dropshot" in up to 50 ft of water, pulling 4 to 7 pounders out like it was NOTHING! I have to get back soon. Thanks again for info on Bait Pump.....Caleb

You'll find it to be a very handy tool.
Just To Let You Know, When We Go Fishing, My Wife Will Not Get In The Boat Without It. We Have Used It Since It First Came Out And Also We Have Given Them As Birthday/christmas Presents. Its Good And It Works
Works great here (Maine) I keep it in a plastic slide lock bag. Hopefully it will work as well in Florida this winter and I won't have to listen to that d*** aerator all day.
I guess it would work for that as long as the bait you are using is in a paste form. The bait pump does alot but I don't think it will squesse (sp) a solid into a paste.Quote:

I got to thinking (i know that is a scary thought) but why couldnt a person take some shad blend them into a puree add a little flour to stiffen them up a bit and use the bait pump to inject it into a tube, think that would work?
There are a lot of cellulose based products on the market with enzymes added. Natural scent can't be bad, just may rot on ya after a day or two. :o
I been thinking also about mixing the Pro Cure shrimp oil with a cellulose base of some sort and forming it into balls to just drop in.
So many thoughts and so little time....

I dang near strangled my son the other day when he brought the boat home and I couldn't find my BaitPump!
I was right in the middle of my screamin' hissy fit when he said " Here it is over here!":o
I wouldn't put a jig in the water without it now!! Here is an old pic of the first crappie I caught using my BaitPump.

about the bait pump...I ordered 2 earlier this week and am looking forward to trying them out at the Arkansas Crappie Camp in October. It'll sure beat having to listen to an air pump all day and trying to find minnows here in Florida during the summer months.
That's a nice fish, Slabbandit.
Hey guys, I had the honor to visit with Randy, the inventor of the bait pump, last weekend. This guy is a stand up guy.
Anyway enough about Randy, lets talk about the bait pump. Randy showed me some of the bait pumps that HE WOULD NOT SELL. I have to tell you guys Randy is probably one of the few guys that would NOT sell the pumps he showed me. There was really not alot wrong with them, maybe out of round on the outside (which does not affect the pump) or a little discolored here or there. If it was not perfect he would NOT sell it.
I am an inspector and have been for the last 15 years so I am not just some "Joe Smoe" off the street that doesn't know what he is talking about.
I just wanted to let all of you know if you choose to do business with Randy, YOU WILL GET A QUALITY PRODUCT.
Dwyane
won't leave home without it.works great
Well, I have heard nothing but good things...Thanks Dwyane, appreciate the information...I am going to more than likely order some of these and give them to some people here in NWA that I know, as early gifts for the coming holiday, thanks everyone for the input you gave me on this product. Really a GREAT idea, and hopefully I will share in the same luck you all have had with this. Thanks for the PM's with the website link also, a few of you sent that to me. Good luck fishing, and anyone else that would like to input on this product feel free....thanks again.Quote:

Any recomendations on the cellulose based mixture? Not real familiar with that type of thing, but interested to learn. Thanks.Quote:

What I have learned is that most pastes are cellulose based, with enzymes and amino acids that emulate a natural fish taste to game fish.
And I do mean taste. I have been corrected to the fact that fish cannot, do not smell, they taste there food before ingesting it.
This is what I mean when I say that crappie nibbles and The Bait Pump do nothing in the lines of finding fish or making them strike. They do every thing as far as giving you the extra few seconds that you need to achieve a deeper and solid hook set. ;)
Basically by stuffing crappie nibbles in side your plastics, you get to reuse, for lack of a better word, your crappie nibbles over and over again. ;)
If I come up with a paste recipe, I will share with you and others that want to try it. :)
Thanks,
Randy

How long has this product been on the market? Just curious? I will also let you know if I come up with anything that can, using the BaitPump, increase the success in "finding fish" haha. Thanks Randy!
I started developing it in 2001, filed petition of patent in 2003, and been selling since 2004.Quote:

I only hope that I can continue to lower the cost. :o
There's a few that think very highly of it, and a few that would rather continue to put crappie nibbles on the hook, and a few that are going to use minners only.
There are tournament fishermen that use a jig, crappie nibbles, and minners hooked behind the jig, all at the same time, that have started using The Bait Pump instead of putting the nibble on the hook. They say now the minner don't knock off their crappie nibble. :)
So I don't try to push a hard sell. If folks want and can use it great.
My feelings never get hurt either way. :)
Heck, I was on this forum for a year before folks found out I owned it, and I would have never said a word. I just don't like selling, plus I was afraid that I would get shunned because of it. People thinking I was just here to sell.
Man was I wrong. :)
These are some good people here. :)
Thanks again,
Randy
Yes, I can tell you are sincere b/c I am the same way you are, I am in a business that sells things and I don't tell many folks b/c I don't like them always worried if I'm going to try and sell them something. I think the product you have is great, and if they want it GREAT. I am going to buy some for the upcoming holiday...when the time is right that is. Also, there are a TON of great people on hear, I couldnt agree more with you there.
I tried my bait pump for the first time Saturday. I am impressed by the craftmanship. I did have problems trying to apply my nibbles though. Do you fill the jigs before or after it is on the hook? My tube jigs are apparantly smaller than what you normally use. I had problems getting the tip of the pump inside of them.

With a little practice you'll be filling them without even thinking about it. ;)
The little micro jigs will not work, but I don't know of anyone that uses them.
Try the www.midsouthtackle.com jigs. You'll be pleased.....;)
Don't be scared to hurt the nozzle, I'm sure it will not tear your jig.... :)
I fill that size jigs for folks on the lake a lot.

This was not my best day (see "me no spider can rig" thread). I was sitting on one of Jerry and Darryl's brush piles with a couple of minnows out and casting a double jig. I couldn't get the pump into one of the jigs. But, I managed to get some into the other. I caught one fish on that one and he hammered it. I was missing so many bites on the minnows that I didn't mess with the jigs any more. But this is my favorite way to fish. I have some jigs ordered from the site Slab Hunter recomended. I am looking forward to getting them.Quote:

They have some woooly beavertails that are VERY good! Let me know how those jigs workout for you, I see the link, I will check them out later tonight I'm sure. Good luck.Quote:
