High effeincency washing machines. think before buying
Bought 1 20 months ago. It has broken down 3 times. Last time was sunday. It is still under warranty for another 4 months but I said forget it. It is going to keep on breaking down and next time we will have to pay. Pro's-uses less electric. Con's-uses very little water. When you have a full load it may only add 12 inches of water for the whole load. You can not get clothes clean with that amount of water. They say it is the soap and not the amount of water that gets clothes clean. I can not see how if you have a load of DIRTY clothes they will come out clean. Mine didn't. Takes a lot longer to wash. 1 cycle took 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete. Have to use detergent made for HE machines. Also suppose to use a cleaner in the machine every 30 loads to clean the machine or it will start smelling sour. This stuff isn't cheap. Maytag gave me a story about how if a part is going to break down it will do it in the first 24 months. Make the parts so they don't break down. to many things to go wrong on those machines. So monday I went out and bought a new standard washing machine without all that new fancy crap. Ya the tub FILLS with water. I would rather buy the old wringer type machine before I would get another HE machine. We used the wringers the whole time I was growing up. Now those would wash clothes and didn't BREAK down. this was a top loading machine. The front loaders may be better but not going there either. I want a full tub of water, able to use any soap and not have to worry about machine smelling because I didn't use expensive cleaner in it. OK I will get off my soap box. Just wanted to give a heads up if any one needed to buy new machine.
