Has anyone fished Lake Buhlow recently? If so what were they hitting on?
Welcome to the LA. Forum!!!!! There havn't been anyone making any Posts from the Lake Bruin area for about a month now. I dont know where Lake Buhlow is located but in this area at D'Arbonne Freebird was Catching good fish in 10 to 12 foot of water. He Said he was fishing 4 ft deep. Try Light colors , he was using white with black flakes and a blue tube jig. I was fishing deeper and darker colors and struck out------ Good luck---FOL
Never heard of people fishing there. I see people fishing every time I go to the VA hospital in Alexandria. One of these days I'll pull the boat and try it.
Lake Buhlow is right by Pineville/Alexandria. I found it by looking up Louisiana Lakes. I was trying to find one close to my stepsons house and it turns out this one is within 4 miles of his house.
Years ago, Buhlow got some attention because they stocked it with Florida bass and it had its 15 minutes of fame. I've never read heard anything about white perch fishing though.
Is that the lake where there is that large paper mill plant is at (at least I think it's a paper mill)? A friend of mine bass fishes that lake during the winter because they discharge warm water, and apparently the bass like it. He didn't know about the crappie because he doesn't fish them.
No, that's not it. Buhlow is right on the highway in Pineville after you cross the old bridge from Ellic.
I pass that lake weekly going into the park. I see some people fishing in boats, but it looks like mostly bass fishing. I have seen some people catch white perch at the culvert on the far end when a little water is running through.
It used to be known as a lake where they had boat races. Don't know anything about the fishing there though.
I want to fish Crazy Lake across the street.
Tracker, the lake you're thinking of is Cleco, aka Rodenmacher (Sp?), up near Boyce.
Isn't there an asylum near there. Maybe that's what he is talking about.
This plant, or mill, is on the west side of the interstate driving north out of Alexandria. You can see it in the distance. They have some sort of insulated pipeline running on a rail carriage across the interstate toward the Red River. I have always been curious about that pipeline every time I pass. One of these days I am going to wheel in and inquire about it. That is, if Ann allows it.
Tracker, thats CLECO's power station. The converyor goes across the interstate to the river where they load coal from barges.
