Cabela's GuideWear
goretex
glad,,, hefty's both work well but the steel tuff contractor bag's at lowes are the bomb diggity
Myself and my brother have guided hunting and fishing trips in Alakska's Prince William sound (a Northern Rain forest) for more than 10 years and for a sustained rain the only thing that is 100% waterproof is rubber. I have customers come with all the most expensive rain gear made and after a full day of rain they ALWAYS use my extra pairs of Helley Hansen rain gear.
normally our rains here in Ark dont last all day, just normally quick hard showers so goretex is ok but if you need to keep yourself really dryfor a extended period or for hypothermia protection then rubber is the only way to go.
Cabela dry plus works for a while for me. I agree, if your life depends on it use rubber.
Rookie, I've got a light weight rain suit that is made by Russell Athletic wear. Will it keep you dry all day long, no but it is a decent rain suit to have and easily taken along in the boat or stored under a seat. Best of all, it only cost me $100 for the pants and jacket. I duck hunt so I have some fine outerwear for the cooler days of the year. This lighter outfit is perfect. Even has zip down legs so you don't have to take your boots off to put it on.
i just picked up the deal of a life time from big & tall camo. im not sure if the sale is still going on but they was having a fire sale part of the ware house had smoke and water damage from a ware house next to them that caught fire . i got 2 $ 100.00 rain suet's for $ 8.00 a peace they said they may smell like smoke and that would be all that would be wrong got them in 3 days and they did not have a smoke smell to them at all best money spent in a long time .
Not much is gonna keep you dry in the kind of rain we had Saturday.
FroG Toggs work for me
I have the good Frogg Toggs and BPS 100mph. The mph is very expensive but so far, worth the money. Alot better protection than the toggs in mho.
I'll update my post. I have the RainTamer 2 suit. Not their top of the line stuff. Jacket is camo, has a mesh lining and big pockets. Pants have elastic waist with drawstring, zippered legs to the hip and mesh lining. Midway USA has them on sale right now if they have any left. I don't know what size you wear, but if a XL will fit, I think I saw a pair of pants for $32. That's pretty good. I don't remember what the jackets were going for, but they are on sale too.
Thanks for all the info guys. I don't see a lot work getting done today with all the different suits to look at.
Asphalt shingles on my roof work for me! :biggrin
After running a powerwasher for 20 years and after trying alot of different brands of suits I finally found one that keeps me dry.Thats sorta unheard of in the powerwashing trade, staying dry running a powerwasher from daylight to dark is hard to do.To bad I didn't know about the suit I have now years ago,it would have been alot more enjoyable coming home dry.
I can fish all day in a down pour and stay dry...don't overlook the army outlet stores.
Bass pro shop 100mph, best you can get IMO.
Cabelas Guidewear. You got deep enough pockets Rookie!!!
What's your phrase? Can't hide money. :)
Sho Can't Hide Money...LOL Ole MeatGetter Came up with that Gem of a Phrase talking about BRM. LOL
I can't hide money. I ain't got much !!! :)
Way to much of that easy come, easy go stuff in my life. Lol
The one the army uses, for cold weather.
I have tried most all the high dollar suits to stay dry while washing and getting wet behind a rain suit in the winter isn't fun.In my search over the years to find something that wasn't heavy after being water logged after a days washing was a never ending search.Just think about it,army doesn't want their people wet and sick all time.Don't be dum like I was and spend hunderds of dollars looking and hopeing to stay dry stay dry the army way.
