Kentucky/Barkley Lake?
I have fished for Bass about all I can stand, is anybody catching Crappie on Ky. or Barkley Lake? The only time I have tried for them lately(mid August) I only caught some small fish on Eddy Creek. At what water temperature do you think the fish move back into the bays? I have had no luck fishing the main lake drops. Too much water! THE BANDIT

Hey Bandit. Make sure you keep us posted if you happen to catch any. Wife and I are going camping this weekend to try them out. Water should be cooling off pretty good around here. It's been getting down in the 50's at night. The bite should start picking up.

KY lake 9/11-9/12
Went to KY lake last week and managed to catch a few. Fished Blood River both days.Only got to fish for about 3 hrs the first day due to lightning but managed 16 keepers, fished about 8 hrs on Tuesday and had 25 keepers.Almost all fish caught on minnows fished from 8 to 12 ft.Tried some deeper brush piles from 15 to 20 ft and had no luck at all. No really big fish like we caught in the spring but had a few over a pound.NO boat traffic at all! Water was 79 and with these cooler temps it should only get better.Planning a trip the first week of October so please keep us up to date!Take plenty of minnows because the white and yellow bass will keep you busy.

The water is cooling down pretty good and I think the fall bite may start a little early this year. I sure am ready. Please keep us posted on any trips and I will do the same. THE BANDIT

Hey Ricky that is a cool website I saved it to my favorites, the bottom temp I think is very useful thanks for passing it on.

I fished Sunday, Eddy Creek is too muddy. We managed to get 4 keepers at Dryden. Threw badk just about that many short fish. It is stained but fishable.

Hey Bandit. Have you heard how Old Guide did in his tournament? We have not been catching much up here either. Went to Patoka over the weekend and caught a few but all small.
-
On the .com web site he said he finished in the mid thirty's out of sixty boats. Not to bad considering he spent some of his time helping out some unfortunate boater that had some trouble that he helped out. Good guy to sacrafice valuable fishing time. If you can get down here it appears the bite should get pretty good around the end of the month and keep improving each week until we ice over (if that occurs) THE BANDIT

I'd like to get down there but probably not going to happen. (I have been trying the last 2 years) Seems like something is always coming up. Maybe next spring I will be able to make it. From reading what I have sounds like the crappie fishing was pretty good this year.

ky/barkley
Could anyone suggest a reasonbly priced cabin/cottage area in the northern sections of Barkley or Ky to spend a few days crappie fishing? I have an elderly fishing partner (86) that would love to fish a few days around the 19th of this month.
We would have a bass boat with a 150HP engine, so we could move some but would like to stay in the general area where the resort/cabins are located.
We'd be coming from southern Indiana (Bedford), and probably cross at Owensboro.
Thanks.
