I am not aware of a crappie movement study on Dardanelle. Bob Limbird and Frank Leone (877) 967-7577 are the biologist over Lake Dardanelle. The main way that a biologist can get at the movement of fish is through a telemetry study. I know that these kind of studies have been done on bass and sauger in the AR River but I am not sure if specifically on Dardanelle pool. Maybe Mojorig can recall.
I did do a rough study on crappie movement on Lake Conway during the exploitation study that we carried out in 2010. The only movement information that we had for that study is the location where the fish was tagged and the reported location of where the fish was caught. This assumes that the angler is being honest. We had fish being tagged in Pierce Creek (southeast part of LC) and being caught up in Caney Creek (northwest part of LC). Over 5 miles of travel.
These studies could get really fun, and interesting, as technology continues to advance. Imagine a tag with realtime GPS monitoring or even daily burst transmissions with data points for every hour or so. The data gleaned from such a study could answer a lot of questions about fish behavior under various weather patterns and during seasonal changes.
I know they move long distances and it would be cool to see where the majority stage in the different seasons.

I have been waiting on its offical approval for some time now. But it is complete and I dont think that it will be changed from its current form.
There was a guy from the MDWF that tagged crappie on Sardis in the early winter and tracked them thru spring a couple years ago. I will look and see if I can find the thread.
Thanks Creek, Im curious to how far they follow say Illinois Bayou or other creeks out in to the main lake on Dardanelle. My goal is to find out as the summer progresses and the fish move around. I'm new to the open water fishing big change from the trees of Conway.
