"Inferior Species" ... Tapout beware!

well today started out with good intentions to slay up some slabs and hopefully have a mess of them for dinner! due to the questionable weather forcast we decided to stay local and went to lake smith. this was the first real fishing outing on my new boat! got to the boat ramp at 8:00... wind was calm and air was a little chilly... the water was bath warm!!! I am pretty new to fishing lake smith and dont have a locator on my boat yet so we just searched for "fishy" spots to fish. found several TINY crappie and bluegill... and caught about 4 "inferior species".... not the greatest day fishing but it sure was great to get out on the boat and fish! the boat works wonderfull the way i have set it up! fished two people with no problems at all! no water in the boat, no stability issues, no engine issues, and even got to practice controlling the boat with the foot trolling motor!

it turned out to be a beautiful day on the water just couldnt find the crappie...

Hey man you got out on the water and you caught some. Fishing is for pleasure and as long as you enjoy it then do it,catching them is the icing on cake, but look at nature that God has created and enjoy His creation. No one learn overnight and every good fishermen was onetime where you are now and all of us are still trying to learn, that,s part of why we pertisapate with others on these boards, real good pic,s

Your first pic was of a crappie so I have no complaints. :biggrin No real need for electronics at that lake as it's all real shallow. Most of the lake is only 5'-6' deep.

Glad your new rig is working out for you. That lake is either rags or riches for me. Skunked (not a single bite) or a bonanza (of mostly big bass) for me anyway.

we were wanting to go to Meade but i didnt want to drive an hour away if the weather was gonna be crap... turned out to be a decent day weather wise! still had a good time catching fish and testing the boat out! i have heard from several people that lake smith is tough to fish for crappie

did you break out the iphone and clock you boat speed? curious to know what it runs.

It can be but there are some big crappie in there. Even across the road at Little Creek, the bass guys have caught some 2lb +.

i did not gps the speed... know of a good iphone app for that? without exaggeration i would realistically say the boat goes around 15mph with two people in it. i need to play around with the adjustments on the remote controls... may not be getting full throttle out of it?

Nope. I have a basic phone. Went the smartphone route, turned it in for a texting phone
