Dardanelle Tip/The importance of a Bouy Marker.

Guys as your fishing the open waters of Dardanelle, in the brush piles or spider rigging. Make sure you have that Bouy marker at your feet and ready to toss in right beside where you got the first bite. I promise you it will help you land another fish or two, or three and will help zero in on where the fish are feeding in a large brush pile or where to make another pass with your spider rig. So it should go like this....Thump, set the hook, throw bouy marker right beside where you just got thumped as your fighting the fish, Grab net...dip up Big Slab...dip jig right back in besides the marker where you just caught that big slab and repeat the process. Works great for attracting strangers. Yesterday a couple guys said looks like you found a honey hole. Next thing my bouy was bumping their boat. Remember not to crowd folks as it's a big lake. Glad to say they were locals not Crappie.com folks.

i am glad to know you don't mind others fishing close to you....I had planned on following you from the boat ramp to your fishing holes all day long....I thought 10 ft to the right and my trolling motor just shy of your seat.......who needs a marker bouy

I started doing that last year, it sure helped inflating my numbers last year. Hoping I can get back out after all the honey-do's and thunder chicken season.

Nimrod, I met your Mr. Greenjeans yesterday on Nimrod, up by the Dam. He counted all my fish......."1, stop".........checked my license and my life jacket, and chit chatted a while about the lake's fluctuation. Wouldn't accept my 'help' to pull boats close together, which I thought was odd, but wasn't a jerk, either. I talked to some campers who'd been there a week and fished every way you can, and caught about 2 to 3 fish per day per man. This time last year I was slaying 'em there. Course, it wasn't flooded last year.

OH.........and as for buoy markers, I have about 10 that won't stop leaking. Those plastic ones. I have put silicone all over them repeatedly, tried to 'seal' them, done about everything.......and they always start leaking again. Course, I use them extensively, so I keep trying. I finally bought these:

Only place I've ever seen these. This is a styrofoam buoy.........with regular line and "U" lead weight. They are way lighter, and harder to 'throw'. Pitching them a little ways is no problem, though. I have no idea if they'll hold up or not.........but they aren't going to leak!!!

I sure hope so too!! :)

Definitely a plus staying over the marked structure , and will also help you find that sweet spot in or around the target
