Greers Ferry Lake Good Fortune

HaAttachment 122799Attachment 122800d a little good luck this afternoon. As we customarily do with before most electrofishing samples, we got a few lines wet. There was a big difference this time. We met Creekslick at the boat ramp. What a great Guy. He says follow me boys. Not only did he show us how to fish, he gave us the jigs to fish with. We managed to catch 10 in about an hour and a half. Creek gave us (Matt Horton, Bigben and I) an additional 14. Great start to a night of sampling. Thanks again Creekslick

I was just giving you are hard time. Most hardcore crappie fisherman don't like bass. Meatgetter calls them fertilizer.

You guys made liars out of everyone I ever heard say there were no crappie in Greers. I have lived close ever since they built that dam but never fished it until two weeks ag and got skunked.

There are no crappie in there!! :biggrin Just green carp and and delicous BROWNIES!!

I got fishing buddies that call em Water Moccassins and stink just like em . The Bass that is , they don't even want them put in the cooler to stink it up.:Rofl

When creek gifted you those fish was there any paperwork involved? As a duck hunter I know you have to fill out paper to show who killed them and what species and sex. Seems like fish should fall into the same deal. Tailgate shots- How do you keep up with who caught which fish. Pile them all up and who is to say who caught how many? One cooler for the boat and all use it or must they be kept seperated by individual?Quit when you have the limit or help buddies catch theirs too? Just asking to find out how agfc handles their own trips. Already know how they handle out of state turkey trips.

This is creekslick you are talking(Mr Greers Ferry) about he goes strickly by the law and if creek was giving fish(crappie) away it was within the law!!! Anyone that knows creekslick very well knows this he don't even get his boat dirty or fish slime on his carpet. His jig's are always perfect no chiped paint(how does he do it)He is a perfectionest and if he is giving fish away espically( crappie from greer ferry) you know its within the law!!!!(espically the Game and fish)Sorry creek they don't know you and respect you like we do on Greers!!! Thanks for all your hard and decated work on Greers to make it the fishery it is.And he has a job he works at in his spare time!!!

Just cause a person works for AGFC doesn't mean they know how a game warden will handle a situation. If you want these questions answered call a game warden and ask him. Don't try and hijack a thread because you got in trouble one time turkey hunting. Own up to your mistake you made turkey hunting and don't get all pissy when someone who works for agfc had a fun outing. I am sure those fellows added there 10 to creeks 15 and had 25 so if they kept fishing they woulda stopped if there were two of them at 40. Thanks gOmer for making a mountain out of a mole hill for the sake of pushing some us against them agenda.

There was three of us in the boat. We had caught 10. When we were done fishing and goning back to the boat ramp to get ready for electrofishing, we retrieved a marker buoy that Creekslick threw out for us to mark a good brush pile. As we were thanking him for his generosity he offered us his 14 crappie that he had just caught. That is a total of 24. We could legally had 60 in the, boat with us. When we got back to the ramp, two of us split them up. The last thing an honest AGFC employee wants to do is break a game law and risk losing their job. Not worth it to me. I love my job too much!

Glad y'all had a great trip with a First Class guy like Wayne. Forget all the hoopla. Lets see some pics from the shocking!!!!!!!!!

We were bass electrofishing. We the random samples that were selected were some pretty marginal habitat last night we did however manage to find one good smallmouth and one good largeouth. Lots of spotted bass in that part of the lake. We also found some pretty good crappie. We didnt net any of them though.

We will be on Lake Barnett tonight sampling. If we see any big crappie out there, we will net them also and take some pictures for yall.

My questions were all legitimate questions. If I give a guy a bunch of fish on the lake do I need to fill out paperwork? That is a simple enough question. One cooler used by all? How do we identify who caught how many. There exists a personal limit as well as a boat limit on places. As far as me turkey hunting and getting ticketed wrong. That honor belonged to the warden hunting Ten without a license about 5-6 years ago. I just wanted an explanation as to how the laws work. Waterfowl laws require paperwork. Does fishing? As far as how I handle mine the answer is simple. I never catch any.
