Me and Mid south man went this morning. We started fishing around 7:00 this morning and were done with a double limit of 60 fish at 10:00. The bite was fast and furious. We caught them on slip cork about 18 inches on mid south tube 1/16 oz head white and chartreuse. Attachment 122066Attachment 122067

That was one of the fastest south of I-40 limits I have ever been a part of. Loads of fun and it was great just to go "pleasure" fishing, no tournament, no guide trip and etc. Don can flat wear them fish out!!!!! It was good to put them spider rigs up and pitch a jig and cork for awhile. We don't get to fish much together anymore, but when we do, it's Katie bar the door, a limit will happen very quickly. Enjoyed it don!!

Here's the deal, when fish are up shallow and you don't need to disturb them with the tm, try a slip cork pitched from 30-40 feet away for their spawning ground. It takes some practice, but with a ozark 9 foot rod and a good setup, this combo is deadly. A slip cork rig fixed with a Midsouth tube will do just fine in these conditions.Quote:

We fish casting a jig under a bobber alot, up to 6' deep, but never with a slip bobber. Only use weighted bobbers...Quote:

Joe, I think there are several advantages of using a slip rig. 1) I can flip a slip rig up under low branches and buck-brush much easier than a fixed float. 2) I can cast LONG distances without the worry of the rig getting all twisted up in itself. 3) If you're using the right bobber stoppers, you can literally fish at unlimited depths. My slip rigs - regardless of whether I terminate them with a hook and shiner or a jig - start with a Thill bobber stopper and a bead (both orange so I can see them better), a Thill 3/4" oval slip bobber, an Eagle Claw worm weight (the old Texas rig kind) pegged in place with a flat toothpick, then a jighead or hook. Select the weight that will set the bobber to the depth you would like - in calm water I like it to ride high so I can see it better and on windy days I set it a little deeper so the wind doesn't push it so much. I don't remember where I came up with this rig, but I've been using it with success for nearly 3 decades now.
