Fill the cooler in the name of research
If you net a 4 pounder, legally slip it in a cooler and get it mounted. Lol
Really, that sounds like an interesting outing.
Sounds really interesting. Is this on Enid ? Look forward to follow up .:popcorn
You need to enlist Wannabe to go along. He could see what it's like to catch More than one fish at a time:Rofl
Thereheis yes it will be on Enid. I plan to take my camera and video camera, I'm excited about it for sure. It would be amazing to just see a 3lber
You should just go spider rigging instead. It's as ethical as netting them. Hehehe!
Once we get done netting, I'm gonna seine the lake with my poles!
How did you get invited to go along?
A buddy I met thru a fraternity brother, we started to hunt together two years ago. I figured out he tagged fish last year and started asking questions about the process and data he collects. I think he got tired of me asking all the questions and just told me to come see it for myself...
What time yall gonna get started on Saturday?
I'm sure pretty early, I'll give you a call when we get ready to launch. I figured you guys would be up there fishing. We have to track the radio transmitters to locate the fish and then round the fish up in the net to retrieve it.
We plan on being on the lake about 6:30. Dont know if we are launching at State Park or Long Branch.
I'll give ya a call around 6:15 and see what yall have planned. Think ya'll can catch a tagged fish if we locate it? haha
Does he want the tags we got back? LOL
Does he think he can get them all back?
Other than the fish that die or go out the spillway, he gets most of the tags back, I think the said 70-80%.
there are some big gills in Enid but high water yrs. . are much more productive . the Indian mound at cats and the old road bed at blufford mc'culloughs are my best two spots .looking forward to see pictures .
I seen the big white boat at Enid Friday and Saturday, it had the antenna on it and on Friday it had one guy in it with headphones on and then Saturday I seen it again in front of Point Pleasant going in circles tracking fish I guessed. I started to follow the boat, cause the bite for me quit about noon.
I was out there Saturday on the boat. All the fish were moved out from 10-20 FOW. Only found one tagged fish in the shallows out of 25. The gill nets were had to use on fish in the deep water, but 2 of the tagged fish have gotten caught in commercial gill nets. We located most of the fish we were looking for, it takes a LOT of riding around, basically lawn mowing style all the way across the lake. Here are a few pics I got.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/08/esunery6.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/08/5u3uve7u.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/08/hupumude.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/08/aqy9avad.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/08/ezu6y7un.jpg
Great day on the water, we are going to try it again later. We found one black crappie that moved 6 miles in 24 hours. A 13" white crappie had been in two different coves, in less than 2 FOW over the past week. Makes me think they lay multiple nests. Also there is some evidence of 2 spawns a year, pretty interesting stuff to me...
We also had a talk with a local fella who was concerned about people fishing these lakes to death. And he felt that it was a problem with people taking over the limit, not the number of folks fishing. He felt that some locals "rape" the lake, by taking 4 limits or more a day... Which is sickening. Also, I think I saw Speck at the ramp http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/08/zudu2e4y.jpg
Yeap that was the boat. Looks very interesting. We had some guys fishing shallow and they wasn't doing any good, but we were in the 8-10 foot water and did pretty good.
I hope they have two spawns a year, man with all the boats on the lake, if they just catch a few we have lost a lot of fish. Love the spawn, but the crowd at the ramps I can do without. lol
Bet it was fun!
