How close to Lake Conway did the pipeline leak out? Is there a chance it will contaminate the lake?
There's a very informative thread on this, somewhere...
Map of the pipeline, place where it ruptured, and the oil flow in relation to Lake Conway in today's Democrat.
they are saiding it not bad. But there never tell the truth. Any time you have a oil leak think are not the same. I use to haul oils/comtam dirt to have burned and refine. Thing never come back the same just ask the one on the gulf, thing are just different.
I have lived in Mayflower on Lake Conway my whole life (28years) I have watched since day 1 the lake become contaminated over the duration of this spill.. I have pictures of oil sheen in lake conway and Palarm creek! Here are a couple places to look at regarding the oil spill in mayflower. I have also had the great pleasure to work with an independent biologist who has done their own testing of lake conway and I have the results! So will be as shocked as others, but I already knew. Also just an FYI all the gov officals in this town PD, Fire Dept., Faulkner county Judge all recieved 100k from Exxon! Also Game and fish commission I am very disappointed with they have set back and let Exxon take the wheel!!!!
If you want to keep up with the oil spill in mayflower go to the facebook page ... https://www.facebook.com/MayflowerArkansasOilSpill
Opflex Solutions company who did the water testing in mayflower outside of Exxon, EPA, ADEQ, Arcadis, and Game and Fish...https://www.facebook.com/OPFLEX?fref=ts

Greenpeace? FOIA? DEQ?.............I have one for you.....BS!!!!! Where's this proof? All I keep hearing is "allegedly" and "proposed." You are saying the same thing this Opflex guy keeps saying, "I have documents," "I can show you" this or that.......... Well, let's see it. There are lots of folks on here who love that lake and dont just want to hear about these conspiracies, we want proof. BTW, congrats on your first post after 8 years of lurking.
Exxon earns a profit of 40 bil plus each year which has been the highest of any US entity. Thats profit alone. They will own any arkansans who think they are "gonna get paid" for their loss for a "small" amount. When you have a 40 billion profit a spill of this nature becomes a great venue to test otherwise unproven cleanup technology and thats it. Think about it.
Where you say the paper are
[QUOTE=Crappie Greg;2354726]I've been from one end of lake Conway to the other and fished it many days since the oil spill and I haven't seen the first drop of oil anywhere on the lake , so I'm with Cmj on this one and I'm calling BS as well !!!!!!![/QUOTE
Now it is up to you to look up these chemicals in relation to tar sands!!!:biggrinAttachment 127921Attachment 127931Attachment 127930Attachment 127929Attachment 127928Attachment 127927Attachment 127926Attachment 127925Attachment 127924Attachment 127923Attachment 127922Attachment 127932
All I see is Mayflower oil Spill and no where in these documents does it say Lake Conway water test. So to me this proves nothing... other than contaminates at the original spill site.
Proves nothing.
Folks, the folks that run that FB page that was referenced have blocked access from locals that did not agree with them that the spill was going to make hundreds, if not thousands of folks ill. They are being influenced by some Gulf Coast activists and some plaintiff lawyers.
This was posted on their page today.

I have found this open forum blog about fishing in lake conway! I believe we need to flood this site with the truth so no-one gets sick!

They have posts where they are getting 'testing' done from a lab that is listed on Quackwatch. I would go with what the state officials say.
I'm with the rest of them, we have trusted people on this site that would tell us the truth! I dont believe any third party survey. D10 speak up on this post.....
Sherry laboratories should be ashamed of their reports.........if they are saying these are test results from the main lake. It ain't true........
Guys, you are right to be suspect of these results. I will take the high road and not speak ill of the people concerned with the health of lake Conway. It is unfortunate that that results of independent water quality water testing are being toughted as truth without a thorough explination of the methods in which they were collected. Specifically if the samples were collected to EPA standards and methods. I will also not speak ill of the collector of the samples. You all know who this person is and his motives. This is all that I will say at this time on this subject. Thanks CC crew for the vote of confidence. Rest assured that WE (I) care dearly for the health and future of Lake Conway and will do.everything I can to protect it.
OK, I'm an AGFC employee, but I want to be clear that I'm saying this as a fisherman and citizen and not an agent of the state and this is just my opinion. D10 is being very diplomatic as he should be.
I have also worked at ADEQ in the lab section, I'm by no means an expert, but I have seen a lot of these kind of reports. The biggest thing that stands out to me is that some of these samples were taken WEEKS before the lab received them and include zero data about location, container type, volume, time collected, etc. When we went sampling, we would always have the samples back to the lab within 8 hrs, and had an exhaustive amount of data on location, time, etc., who was present, chain of custody for any one that had the sample in their possession before it reached the lab, and I could go on. I'm not claiming to know whether these samples are legitimate or not, but a lot of information seems to be absent.
Just my two cents.
I will be out sampling some of those Big Conway Slabs the next few days. I will let ya know if I find anything other than Peanut oil. or Canola oil in the fish. I think you guys should fish somewhere else until I get done with my sampling...I will give you a data report in about one month. Thanks guys for your cooperation.
It does seem that Sherry labs is creditable

I know during the BP spill folks were sending in water and sand sample in all sort of pickle jars and jam jars. Without understanding how they needed to be cleaned first. I would check with the state and federal folks, before I would get worried about the results. I did notice that it the report mentioned soil.
Who hired Sherry? Are they working for someone who wants the cleanup job? Hard to put a lot of stock in what has been posted on here! I'm not real smart, but wonder why Exxon, the culprit in all of this, hasn't come out and put up some lab tests and samples to show they have NOT contaminated Lake Conway? Dunno, but something just ain't right in all of this! Meanwhile, sample, sample, sample, Crappie Pro!!!
I used to work at ADEQ and spent a lot of time sampling - As BigBen stated there are some issues with the sampling processes. Sherry is just a lab, they run whatever samples that are brought/shipped to them. I noticed all are soil samples from either ditch by Subway or from the residential area, the last several pages "Tentative Results" are estimated values, concentrations are below what the lab can guarantee as accurate. Based on levels I saw - the ditches are pretty clean - roadside ditches usually pick up a lot of compounds from vehicle exhaust. If you want to see the recognized standards go to RCRA Human Health Medium Specific Screening Levels | Region 6 | US EPA and you can see what the regulatory levels are. This way I am not "consulting" or pointing fingers - big grin
