I fished several bass tournaments when you had to dunk the rod after most every cast to get the ice off the guides. The best was when the carpet in my Skeeter was completely covered with sleet. Sleet and Astroturf don't mix in a fishing boat.
You BIG WUSS!!! You moved down here from the People's Republic to get away from cold weather. Today was beautiful compared to most days earlier in the week. Of course, that observation was made out the front door of my 68 degree studio.
Doggonit Rich, where are the grip and grin pics? If you went out today, surely you loaded the boat with another cache of 3 pounders:biggrin
You caught the tater!!!!! Used to icedfish 30 to 45 days a winter. Got spoilt in DA bluegrass state! Thank God above for long underwear!!!!! BTW, fished for 2 1/2 hours and had 11 crappies. Spent 2 hours idling around marking brush and fish! HEY WISKERS FOUND YOUR BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be out tomorrow. I may regret it, but I'll be out!
Guess I'll have to wait until Saturday morning. Hope they're still where they were when I left them last Saturday....
I haven't been since Wednesday of last week, worked last 7 days,be on the water in the morning at first light. I had them pinned down but I'm not even going to the same bay. May regret it but need a change of scenery.
Good luck and tight lines...
No fishing for me Friday. My son bought me and himself each a ticket to see Eric Clapton in Nashville Friday night. 10th row on the floor!!! Don't get much better.
Hey Doug,
Last Thursday I was out pre fishing for last Saturdays tournament and got to experience the whole sleet deal. When it first started I looked at my buddy and we both started laughing like crazy but after bottom of boat turned white we started questioning how bright we really might be??? It lasted about 5 -10 minutes then switched to rain.
Clapton had the nickname "Slowhand".
My Dogs name is LAYLA
Guess somehow we got old !
As for ice in the rod tip - just suck on them !
I am from Wisconsin and fished spring Walleye runs with ice floating all around the boat in fact we had to use the truck to open the landing just to launch.
